Camelford Club Site is a wonderful little oasis which on first impressions did not exactly float my boat. However after a nine night stay we grew to love it for its simple charm, central location and excellent Wardens.
Yes there is a pylon in the middle of the field but it is tactfully surrounded by trees and flowers. The windfarm across the valley consists of four large wind turbines but I never heard any noise from them.
The nearby road does have some traffic but it is hardly noticeable.
I have noted from a previous review concerns over site security. This is Cornwall not some inner city sink estate. Never once during the entire stay did we feel vulnerable and having learned of the Warden's previous occupation any fears I might have had would have been allayed immediately.
Camelford is a nice little town with some decent pubs and rather good chip shop. Within 500yds of the site down a lane you have the Coach House Pub which sells good honest pub grub and beer at a price that won't damage your wallet. The bar staff and residents all being very friendly.
To us a site is where we base ourselves to go out and explore knowing we have a safe haven to return to and Camelford Club Site did this job perfectly.
There is no Wifi and I know the reason why so make sure you take you satellite kit if you want Sky TV. Some of the nearby pubs do have free Wifi so its not the end of the world...in fact it was quite nice to be off it for a week...
This is a site we will be coming back to.
An Honest review
camelford caravan site
As another reviewer stated the faculties are dated and tired ,the site is noisy at the eastern end by the road and the MOT garage adjacent to pitch 14 around 6am begins it's working day , revving cars and door slamming all day, we feel that we should have been warned of this, also not a fan of electric pylons and one stands in the centre of the site, another 'feature' not mentioned, signs under forbid pitching but my understanding is power radiates out over several hundred yards, not for me this
Site security a joke, site accessible by road or from side road easily by walkers who can jump over the low wall, I made sure I applied all measures to secure caravan but was always pleasantly surprised when it was still there when I got back, no wifi was available despite my paying for a year upfront, so no online discounts to visit popular attractions could be attained, the dog walk a joke it's so small, site needs a total makeover to bring it to the normal Caravan Club standard
A small site very central to the Devon and Cornwell coasts, there were in all honesty better pitches but the unhelpful staff failed to advise, I will not be staying here again and nor could I recommend it to other users
based on a 10 night stay in August 2015
A fantastic site but could benefit from better sign posting from the A39.
Fab site, fab location and a fantastic holiday! Great site and great location for lots of fabulous places in Cornwall. Had a lovely feel to it. However, would benefit from better sign posting as it isn't the easiest site to find, as both ourselves and the couple before us struggled.
Just back
Just back from a brilliant holiday the site was very good wardens very helpfull nice and quiet hope to be back next year
Brilliant
Only a star short of perfect, I think the gents toilet block is not quite up to the norm expected on club sites. Perfectly clean but a little tired.
Everything else A1. The wardens on club sites are always good, these were exceptional could not have been more helpful.
Will be back.

Great site
This is a gem of a site, great atmosphere and imaculate toilets. Very friendly wardens. Close to lots of beaches and bodmin moor. Only one complaint I appear to have put on weight with all the scones and pasties !

Just back....
Lovely wardens and very helpful but this site is poor and the facilities need revamping. Got stuck on grass no hardstandings and ended up outside the toilet block with a view of the pylon and wind turbine

Handy for accessing great walks
The proximity to the bus stops make it very easy to get to some superb locations and find lovely walks for all abilities. I recommend the Camel Trail from Wadebridge and the coastal path from Tintagel. There are also pleasant walks in the village itself through the park or along the river. The only disappointment is to find the laundry room closed after 5 pm, which is the time you arrive back on site after a day out. Otherwise, highly recommanded.
Fab site and fab wardens
We came down here on 28th June at start of Scottish school holidays. A warm welcome from the wardens and we were lucky to site our van in one of our favourite pitches with a terrific view. Nothing was too much trouble for the wardens and when my father in law ended up in Truro hospital for 11 days they were very helpful. Love this site great for families, clean toilets and showers and washing facilities available too. Tennis court available for use as well. Good base for lots interesting places and good beaches. Thank you again to sue and rod clarke for all your help again. My father in law is doing much better now he is home.
