Disappointing!
We have visited this site previously and have always been happy however, unfortunately the site now is very tired, unloved and requires staff and investment. There seems to be a problem with certain pitches being out of use, whether this is due to the ground conditions or just lack of maintenance but aesthetically it makes the site look really poor. The wardens seemed stressed & agitated and were allocating pitches without the guests being aware, when we arrived there were several vehicles in front of us, as we pulled up to the barrier it opened so we thought that as our booking was paid in full that either the warden or a recognition camera had opened it, how wrong we were!
After finding a suitable pitch and after approximately 20 minutes setting up onsite I received a telephone call from the warden who accused me of driving onsite without visiting reception, which was correct however I then tried to explain the above but she was not interested and told us that we had to move pitches which we did, all this surprised us especially considering the overall state of the site and in that we visited very early in the season so I’m not sure how they will cope in peak season!!
Unfortunately this experience really soured our stay and we will not be returning the Cambridge Cherry Hinton site in the future.
