First Time

Very pleasant winter visit. Bit muddy round our pitch due to very heavy rain but loved the layout of the site. Facilities excellent as always and pleasant, helpful wardens. Location excellent for bus travel into Cambridge and only very short walk to pub with very good food at the end of the road. Couldn't fault it. We will be back.

Muddy pitches

First time at Cherry Hinton & doubtful we will return. Pitches are described as hard standing but it is only the pitch the caravan stands on that is hard standing. The grass between the road and pitch was very muddy, so the information was misleading. Pitches are small, our single axle van only just fitted, and not up to usual standard of the caravan club. Having said that it was easy to get into Cambridge on the bus. For a winter site not what I was expecting.

Winter visit

Great site. Very well kept by wardens who were very helpful on arrival. Good location for visiting Cambridge and the surrounding area. One of the best CC sites I have visited.

Good site

It was quite boggy on some of the pitches due to the weather, the wardens had coned them off and you could see where some people had churned up the grass which was a shame for them. I think in winter it's probably best to stick to the hard standing. But great facilities, the late arrivals has plenty of space and looks absolutely fine, not that we had to us it. Usually high standard of toilet facilities that you expect. There is some noise in the evening that went on until the early hours but only a problem if you are very sensitive to noise, I think. It is in a quarry so some pitches have blind spots to phone and satellite if that's important to you. Absolutely no complaints from our visit.

Top Quality

We were booked in for the weekend and had every intention of arriving before 8 on the Friday evening but the traffic put paid to that. Refreshingly we were able to park up just outside the barriers and still make use of an electric hook-up. Even better, the warden waived the pitch fee for that night as we couldn't get onto the site proper. The toilet block was impeccable, the grounds were very well maintained, the wardens went out of their way to be helpful and on the whole the site was peaceful - a little traffic noise (generally screened well by the trees) and a bit of muffled bass from an off-site party hence dropping the one point (I would have gone half if I could). We could hear some football going on in the distance but that was only during the day and didn't detract from an otherwise peaceful stay. The site is brilliantly placed for the bus journey in/out of Cambridge (can't fault £4.00 for a full day ticket). I've been camping/motorhoming for well over 20 years now and this place has to rank amongst one of the best sites I have been on! We will definitely be back.

Excellent Site

We have just spent 5 nights at Cherry Hinton Caravan Club Site.  Everything was as would like it.  The facilities were first class, warm and clean.  The wardens were really pleasant, kind and helpful.  The location of the site for Cambridge both for walking, cycling and bus route is ideal, and Cherry Hinton has everything to provide for any needs.  Will definitely return

Good visit for Cambridge

Spent four nights here in January. Good for visiting Cambridge by bus. Visited Kings College Chapel and Fitzwilliam Museum both very good. City good for shopping. Went out on bus also to American War Cemetery. Very interesting visitor centre there.  Be warned though, service buses do not stop outside cemetery for return journey. Quite a walk back down main road to nearest stop. Footpath ok. Site up to normal  high Caravan Club standards, staff, cleanliness, showers etc.

Football Friendly

Arriving in January, a cold afternoon, we were surprised by the noise of a football game being played immediately above the site. We settled, the location is good for local shops, and Cambridge, but the site is small and split into even smaller 'bays' the facilities were fine, as you would expect, but in the evening we again heard the football, and could see the lights on the illuminated pitch. This is not mentioned in the hand book.

What a fantastic site

What can I say, Cherry Hinton is one of my favourite caravan club sites. The facilities are excellent. The staff are always very friendly and pleasant. The site is peaceful and excellent if you want to get away from it all. I haven't been to this site for a couple of years now until my recent trip in January this year. The last time I visited this site, there was a problem for winter touring. The hook ups were only around six amps and limited heating. I was pleasantly surprised on this visit to find the site had just been rewired and all hook-ups now give you a full and very generous 16amps. This is perfect for those cold nights through the winter. All I can say is Cherry Hinton is a must visit.

A cracking site

we recently took possession of our new caravan and decided to go away and test it out. The site was easy to get to and the shower block as with all caravan club sites was fantastic. Due to the location of the site its in a massive hollow (old chalk quarry), we was sheltered from the worst of the weather, the site we imagine will get very busy in summer as it was fairly busy at the weekend. highly reccomended
