Football Friendly

Arriving in January, a cold afternoon, we were surprised by the noise of a football game being played immediately above the site. We settled, the location is good for local shops, and Cambridge, but the site is small and split into even smaller 'bays' the facilities were fine, as you would expect, but in the evening we again heard the football, and could see the lights on the illuminated pitch. This is not mentioned in the hand book.

What a fantastic site

What can I say, Cherry Hinton is one of my favourite caravan club sites. The facilities are excellent. The staff are always very friendly and pleasant. The site is peaceful and excellent if you want to get away from it all. I haven't been to this site for a couple of years now until my recent trip in January this year. The last time I visited this site, there was a problem for winter touring. The hook ups were only around six amps and limited heating. I was pleasantly surprised on this visit to find the site had just been rewired and all hook-ups now give you a full and very generous 16amps. This is perfect for those cold nights through the winter. All I can say is Cherry Hinton is a must visit.

A cracking site

we recently took possession of our new caravan and decided to go away and test it out. The site was easy to get to and the shower block as with all caravan club sites was fantastic. Due to the location of the site its in a massive hollow (old chalk quarry), we was sheltered from the worst of the weather, the site we imagine will get very busy in summer as it was fairly busy at the weekend. highly reccomended

Handy for Cambridge

As others have said its very handy for Cambridge. The best thing about this site is the wonderful showers, best pressure I've had on any site, all the facilities are kept very clean by the wardens. The only downside of this site is in the evening's next to the site is a floodlit sports stadium and the constant shouting and thud thud of football's gets to be very annoying, it can be heard even above the TV, if its like this in winter goodness knows what its like in the good weather.  The is also a busy road that runs along the otherside of the site so whichever pitch your on you will get noise.

LOVELY SITE

This was my first visit to this lovely site and certainly will not be the last. It is in an old quarry on different levels but with level pitches. Owing to the nature of the site, pitch pre-allocation by the wardens happens. Access to the site is not allowed up 13.00 hrs. The wardens are very helpful and cheerful. The site is well maintained and so are the facilities which were always very clean. Site access is not easy. The number 3 bus stop is only five minutes walk from the site and the bus takes you directly into the centre of Cambridge - I used my bus pass so free travel. I recommend the Tourist Office 'Walking Tour' which is guided and takes you around the city centre and into the Colleges. The tourist office also sell punting tickets for less you would pay on the river. There is a Tesco Express, in the village, ten minutes walk from the site. I enjoyed my stay at Cherry Hinton and the time spent in Cambridge.

short break before going back to work

This is our first time at this site.  Wardens lovely and cheery. Facilities spotless. Short walk to pub and short drive to Cambridge.  A small site, which we like. We did have alot of rain on Saturday, and the grass by our pitch was a bit muddy, but otherwise ok. Some pitches not as spacious as some we have been on, it would have been a bit squashed if we had our awning out.  We will be back though when the weather is better to hopefully enjoy more of Cambridge.

Excellent Site

We stayed for 5 nights over New Year, the wardens were the best we have seen at a club site. Available, friendly, with a smile on their face at all times. They again put on the mulled wine, very enjoyable, on New Years Eve. The site is immaculate, clean toilets, everything you would want. We highly recommend the Robin Hood Pub, 5 minute walk, bus stop outside, every 12 minutes to Cambridge. Hope they enjoy their holiday to Sri Lanka, well earned. George & Mary Roberts

Excellent Site

We are regularly at this site visiting an elderly relative, facilities are always spotless and the site is well run and try conveniently located.  Our latest stay was over the New Year, sadly we weren't able to take advantage of the wardens mulled wine etc on New Years Eve but its great that they offer to do this. Some of the grassed areas surrounding some of the hardstanding pitches can get pretty muddy and, being in a quarry there are some quite cold areas that retain the frost/ice.  Dog walking is great with a walk on site and two nature trails across the road. We are always happy to return here.

Christmas Stay

Our stay was over the Christmas week , this is our 2nd time at this site and as usual the facilities were spotless and the staff were very helpful even supplying hot mulled wine and biscuits Christmas eve. Santa made an appearance on his tractor Christmas morning emptying bins , you would have thought he would be tired out delivering presents the night before. But seriously this is a great site with lots to do in and about cambridge. Thanks again for a great stay and we will be back in the summer.
