An enjoyable return to the Club!

Having purchased a caravan and re-joined the Caravan Club after a 10 year break, this was our first outing to "test" the van. I was delighted to find that the excellent high standards of the caravan club have been maintained. This site and the facilities were immaculate, the pitches well laid out and the staff helpful and friendly. Burford is a delightful Cotswold village and we spent a good few hours exploring the variety of shops (and pubs!). Some lovely places to eat. An excellent butchers selling sausages, burgers and kebabs for the barbeque. Back on site, there is some noise from the animals in the wildlife park opposite especially at feeding time and some aircraft noise in the distance from the airfield at Brize Norton, but this is all part of the ambience of the site and all adds to the character and appeal for my wife and I. You may also spot some of the military aircraft flying in the distance. Relatively local for us, can't help thinking we'll be back!

Burford CC Site

Maintains the usual standards of Club sites. Staff very helpful. Some noise from the adjacent animal park, and planes using Brize Norton, butt not intrusive.  Good centre for visiting local sites.

5 days Oxford

We arrived on a Thursday afternoon. Pitched up lovely large pitch, sat waiting for friends to arrive, pitched next to each other. We had a wonderful peaceful time at Burford, great staff, and facilities. Plenty of places to eat in Burford if needed, great location for Cotswold wild life park. Will return again soon.

Our First CC Weekend

This was our first CC weekend being complete caravanning virgins.  We collected our new caravan and experienced our first drive to Burford which was half way between the dealers and home.  We were very impressed with the whole experienced.  The shower blocks were spotlessly clean and warm. Water in and waste out facilities were easy to use.  The site was immaculate and caravans and motor homes had plenty of room between each other.  We drove to a nearby supermarket and called in to the local put for a refreshing shandy on the way home. Being quite keen on planes we were impressed to see a C17 fly around a couple of times as we were packing up Monday morning.  Otherwise it was very peaceful as everyone seemed to go to bed fairly early and we both went to sleep with contented smiles.  Staff were welcoming and helpful especially as we had arrived with no waste pipe which they stocked so we were soon up and running.  All in all a very satisfying weekend.

An excellent site

We stayed here for 19 nights from late July to August and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Burford is an amazing and intriguing site. It is very spacious yet because of the trees you think it’s much smaller than it actually is. It has both hard standing and grass pitches, and 10 or so service pitches. All pitches are huge and many have large areas to the side and behind them, we were on a service pitch and we had two very large grass strips either side and another caravan could easily have fitted behind us. It has two dog walks, and the biggest play area I’ve seen, it has a half football sized field and lots of play equipment as well, swings, large climbing frame with slide. In fact it is an excellent family site.  Also of interest is that there are two separate toilet/showers areas within the same building for both sexes so there was never a queue in the mornings and always one block open at all times as well as a separate toilet and another disabled toilet.  Naturally the whole site, including the toilets is kept to the very high standards expected of the club and it is a credit to the hardworking and very friendly wardens. They also stock a very good shop and the information room is excellent. But the most intriguing thing is that it was only full at weekends and only half to two thirds full during the week, the wardens themselves called it a ‘weekend site’. There is no bus service from the site but there is parking instructions for motor homes for parking in Burford. There are the usual supermarkets in the area, the nearest being a few miles away. There is so much to do in the surrounding area, and Oxford has an excellent park and ride which is only 20 minutes away. All in all an excellent site. Thank you wardens.

Excellent site BUT!

Burford CC site is like all the other CC sites we have visited in that the shower blocks are spotlessly clean and the overall appearance of the site is excellent. The neighbouring Wildlife park is a must see, greatly enjoyed by my dogs.( and my wife &I).  And now for the "but" - As mentioned in other reviews, the distance to Burford, although not overly far, is along a very busy A road which does not lend itself to Pedestrians. Apart from the Park opposite, a vehicle is a necessity. The only other gripe worth mentioning is the poor dog walking facilities. There is a fenced area but this is very small. The second, larger area ,is not fenced and is very close to the main road. Although we enjoyed our stay, for the reasons mentioned above, we will not be rushing back.

Great site!

Just returned home after 10 lovely days at Burford. The site is a real gem in a beautiful setting and the surrounding villages and towns are very picturesque. The Wildlife Park opposite is a bonus especially if you have children to keep entertained -- no easy task! Facilities on the site are excellent and maintained to a high standard by the dedicated team of wardens who are a credit to the Caravan Club. This was our third stay at Burford and we will certainly return.

Happy holiday

Arrived without access difficulties, experienced on several other sites in the network, as good roads leading to site. Cotswold Wildlife Park opposite, you merely cross the road to enter, and it was a fabulous day out. A bonus was that you can have cheaper entry price by buying tickets from caravan reception. Overall we had a great week here with our two grandchildren, aged 8 and 6. They loved the site as there were lots of children to play with in the play park every day of our stay. They went over after breakfast, after returning from our frequent days out and after dinner each evening, coming back reluctantly to go to bed as darkness fell! What a happy return to the ideal childhood adventures of years gone by! We visited lots of interesting places nearby, and I do agree that a car is essential, but the children loved everything we did, every day of our stay. It is a site in 2 halves, hard standing and grass, with most families pitched on grass, like we did, but you could have a child free holiday by pitching on hard standing if you preferred, I would think. Toilets are clean, site is well cared for and wardens are friendly and welcoming. We will return, hopefully, in the near future.
