6 days on 'Broadway

Having been a club member for many years, this was my first visit to Broadway, it certainly will not be my last. Everything was brilliant from the reception on arrival, the layout of the site, the quality of the pitches, and excellent facilities. We were lucky enough to have a pitch on the part of the site away from the road, with views of the steam trains on the Gloucester and Warwickshire railway. The site was full at the time of the visit but it did not feel overrun or did the facilities seem at full stretch. I believe this came about as a result of the sensible time for cleaning the facilities in the afternoon rather than at 10.30am in the morning which causes a rush. The facilities were well maintained and kept very clean even on a full site. Well done to the warden team for all their hard work in keeping the place so well presented, thank you. The area is a great place to visit lots to see and do, we didn't see everything we wanted so will be back for more. Visits included: - the railway - great since they have now extended the line to Broadway, and I think life blood to them. Harvington Hall near Droitwich was fascinating with all its priest holes, even featured in Country Life, well worth a visit. Charlcote Park, Sudeley Castle and Chedworth Roman villa were part of the itinerary. Also visited Broadway the town seems to sold its soul less to tourism than some Cotswold towns, Stow - great kitchen shops and Chipping Campden. Look forward to coming back

Fantastic site

This was our first visit to the site and we will definitely be back. Staff very welcoming and friendly, facilities spotless. Dog walking areas useful for early morning/evening walk. Easy walk into the town and plenty of places to take the dog on longer walks. Walk upto Broadway Tower was worthwhile for fabulous views. Pizza van on Monday night was excellent.

Much more than a great site

As others have said, this site has it all and the facilities are spot on. I was pleasantly surprised the site was almost in woodland......don’t envy anyone the leaf clearing job in the autumn. In five years of using club sites I have always said the wardens are excellent.......in my case they went the “extra”. All set ready to move off the pitch, hitch checked......bump over the first speed ramp (very slowly) and the hitch came adrift from the ball. Safety brake cable snapped, wires pulled clear of plug and nose on the ground. As if by magic the head warden appeared, used his radio and called the training warden( I think). They got the caravan back on the pitch, pulled the plug apart, rewired and had me back ready to go in forty five minutes advising me to get to Cotswold Caravans for a new safety cable. ...which I did. That is what I call being helpful and all done with smiles......thank you so much Broadway. We will be back.... And yes, I have successfully hitched three times since the incident.

Excelent

1st class site and wardens, great that the steam railway station is just across the road and runs past the edge of the site. Lovely village, all within walking distance.

Our favourite site

We have stayed here 3 years running and consider it our favourite site. Facilities are good and the whole site clean and tidy. Wardens are very welcoming and helpful. Off site dog walking a bit restricted, especially at the moment with a local footpath temporarily closed. Broadway is a perfect Cotswold village with everything on it. The preserved railway, now open, is a great asset. Like Moreton just down the road the drinking water makes a lousy cup of tea. A peculiarity of the Cotswold “hard” water.

BROADWAY - AN EXCELLENT SITE

Conveniently sited for Broadway and other Cotswold villages. Steam railway sited nearby with connection to Cheltenham. Wardens very pleasant and helpful. Shame about all the impactive road humps. While appreciating that speed should be 5mph or less if you approach humps at that speed damage to car suspension could become an issue !!! Being associated with the garage trade I know car springs are stressed when coming off the humps and broken car springs are very common today. Remove the humps - save damage to Club members vehicles ! I noted that drivers still exceeded the limit - 15 to 20 mph in between the humps. Enforce the required speed limit by other means - On arrival remind guests of the limit and why it is important, when wardens out and about stop speeding vehicles and remind drivers to keep slow. Most non Club sites have speed limit of 10mph - a more sensible and achievable speed which is still very safe and which drivers may relate more readily with.

We will return!

We stayed last week for 3 nights. The wardens are friendly and helpful. Facilities are spotless. The pitch was clean, level and tranquil. The motorhome service point is easy to use. Broadway is one of our favourite Club sites and just got better, now that the Station is back in operation with steam trains for a nostalgic experience. The visiting pizza van on Monday evening was a big bonus. The Crown & Trumpet off the High Street deserves a strong recommendation too. A traditional pub with lots of character without being pretentious. It has some of the best pub food we have ever eaten, at very reasonable prices. There is a good selection of real ales, and the friendly owner makes a point of coming round and greeting his customers. Broadway has plenty of interesting shops and a useful Budgens supermarket.

Steam train heaven

The site is located off a busy road which is presently the only way to walk into Broadway itself (about half a mile). Facilities were clean and well maintained and the wardens friendly and helpful. There are two dog walks; one is very small and is not really a walk, but the second, newer one is better. There is a children’s plaground with a picnic table and chairs. It would benefit from a couple more tables just outside the playground for families with dogs to keep an eye on their children. For steam engine enthusiasts, the steam railway goes past the site and the station is just across the road. The site is well located for travelling around The Cotswolds.

Excellent Location

We have used this site on many occasions over the years and the excellent location means that it continues to be very popular and consequently, very busy. Usual high standard of facilities with friendly wardens who keep the site well maintained. Large level pitches and a second dog walk has been created - owners just need to work out how to pick up!! Ongoing works to create a carpark at the newly opened Broadway Heritage Railway Station means that there is some noise during the day and the permissive path linking Station Road to the back lane to Childswickham is temporarily closed to facilitate these works (for information). As others have pointed out, the 'speed humps' around the site are very severe. We witnessed one caravan which was leaving the site, become detached from the tow vehicle - the breakaway cable did not engage the handbrake and the caravan rolled back down the hill before coming to a halt on a vacant pitch - thankfully no-one was behind the outfit and only pride was injured but it does serve as a timely reminder to make sure you are properly attached before moving off!!
