Good compromise

We usually stay on CLs but have found over the years that they have become quite expensive and as we get older we are less inclined to go down muddy tracks. We therefore felt this was a good compromise with tarmac roads, hardstandings and excellent filling/emptying/waste facilities. We have our own facilities so would rather have this sort of arrangement and pay a bit less. Only issues were the poor TV, radio and mobile data signal. We made do with the few channels and had DVDs so that wasn't a major issue. The radio was odd in that all but one night we had reception but we must have been parked just a fraction further back which meant we could not pick up any decent station. The mobile data was an issue because I need to book my gym classes at some awful time in the morning and usually do this online so as not to disturb my husband. Unfortunately I had to ring them at 0630 so it was an early start that morning!! Friendly staff and lovely location. We don't have dogs but used the walk as the start point across country into the neighbouring village. We were lucky enough to have lovely weather during our visit.

Wonderful wardens - credit to the site - memorable stay

I stayed with my sister as we wished to walk to Bourton-On-The-Water from the site. The wardens were very helpful from the moment we arrived, and pointed out various pitches we could go on i.e best view and went above and beyond in helping us/guiding us to the start of The Windrush Way taking their time to explain the route on a map/providing valuable information. We had a great few days and recommend the walk to BOTW (takes a good couple of hours through some lovely countryside, takes 3 hours if you don't follow the way markers properly!!) and the town itself is very pretty with lots of nice places to visit. We also visited Stow-on-the-Wold and you can park your motorhome for free in the coach car park. We also decided to extend our stay by another day as the area was so great to explore. Would definitely go back and lack of toilet/shower block not an issue for us as my m/home is self-contained. Overall an absolutely brilliant location for us and will definitely be back.

Our first visit here and it won't be our last!

We wanted a quick weekend away before our van goes in for a warranty repair and as our first choice site was full (Moreton-in-Marsh), we choose this site instead so we could still be within an hours drive of our destination. Even though this site is fairly remote from civilisation, we weren't in the least disappointed. In fact, as others have stated, mobile signal is poor and this only made for an even more peaceful weekend away. Both of us were surprised how much we didn't miss our phone/iPad/wifi! We made use of the tv booster for evening entertainment but drove into Stow On the Wold on Saturday to pick up something to cook for dinner and to give the dogs another leg stretch. There is a dog walk onsite with poo bins and even a small supply of poo bags for anyone who might be caught out (although I fully expect most responsible dog owners to ALWAYS have bags on them!). The site wardens were lovely and friendly and were very helpful when we arrived in pointing out where we could park and exactly where everything was. We were almost put off by the lack of toilets/showers but we're both so glad we booked anyway. A fantastic little site in a peaceful and beautiful location and one that we will definitely visit again soon! Thank you!

Immaculate, peaceful retreat

What a lovely site to escape to. The views, if you pitch right are amazing.  Do take plenty of books and the dvd player and iPod. We could not get a radio, internet or good TV signal.  Excellent and friendly wardens. They have planted herbs which you are invited to snip. What a delightful touch!

Price, peace and practical

We are newcomers! This was our maiden voyage in our older caravan. We only had common sense. Just the hubby and I trying things out before adding the kids. Upon arrival, we had a friendly greeting, they are absolutely lovely, very helpful and volunteered to guide us through the whole set up. They also gave us full instructions for local pubs. The site is extremely well kept and very quiet. We spent the day out at Bourton which is well worth a visit, plenty to do, and not far by car, nice Indian restaurant next to the garage there as well. We cannot fault the site at all, it may not have had a toilet block, but the waste point etc was immaculate. And a stones throw from the van. I would recommend and return. 'Thank you for all your help' :)

If you want peace and quiet

Our first visit to Bourton on the Water but not our last! Upon arrival ( early ) we received the friendly greeting one expects on a club site and set off to find a pitch. The warden Bob suggested pitching facing the view and offered to help turn the van. Foolishly we pointed out we have a motor mover and therefore could manage. Only for the mover to pack up whilst straddling two pitches, no problem said the wardens who offered help and advice and after we failed to rectify the problem found an engineer to come out to rescue us after hours. Thank you wardens! The site is beautifully located, and well maintained. There are, as we were aware, no toilet blocks but that shouldn't put one off, the peace and quiet compensates.  Some 5 miles from Bourton, the site is convenient for many Cotswold tourist spots if not shops and there is a lovely pub two miles away. We will be back in the spring!

First Class

We arrived on site at dusk and the Warden welcomed us with open arms and walked me on site to direct me to the available pitches fir your weekend stay.. She provided us with the usual paperwork and left us in peace and peace we had for two days solid..the site us emaculate and well laid out the services first class Bob the warden took time out for a chat on Sunday Morning all in all an excellent experience. Water Quality 10/10 recycling 10/10 .... O2 phone reception good with 3G and intermitant 4G coverage. TV reception not great but the site does have its own mast and the hook up posts gave th facility to plug coaxial cable in so if you want to keep up with the Rovers Return or check out Xfactor you nay need to gave a cable. The reception to sell the cables. Thank you to the Wardens for a great stay..

A gem, even in high season, with lovely wardens

We stay here quite often, because it is a useful stop en route from mid-Wales to SE England, and because it is generally quiet with views from some pitches. The wardens are very welcoming, and really do care about your satisfaction and welfare. There is no toilet block, which is a PLUS for us, because it tends to deter families, and we always use our own facilities. We have done the parenting and grand-parenting business, and now prefer peace and quiet. Only downside is that Bourton-on-the-Water village has become a tourist hot-spot, so there are generally crowds, and the restaurants/pubs are somewhat over-priced.

Lovely site

Being familiar with the area we had high hopes for the site and were not disappointed. We enjoyed a thoroughly refreshing and invigorating long weekend which left us wishing we could postpone our return home.
