Good site for walking in Wharfedale

This site used to be called "The Strid" which is a more accurate description because that is exactly where it is, next door to the The Strid Visitor Centre.   Bolton Abbey is about two miles away. The approach to the site entails negotiating through a very narrow arch. The site is fairly small and set among trees. There is no broadcast TV signal and there are only seven channels off the bollard. Because of the trees getting a satellite signal is also difficult, in fact I would say that probably only about four pitches get a clear view of the sky in the required south-easterly direction.  The toilet block is quite small although it was never full during our stay in early August. The shower cubicles are on the small side with those wretched stools ! but they are well cleaned and maintained.   It is an excellent location for walking in Wharfedale and a footpath across from the site leads up onto the moors with a circular route to Bolton Abbey and back up the river. However, it had been dry before we walked it and yet parts of the route were very boggy.  We enjoyed our stay at Bolton Abbey site and would return in the future but there are many other Yorkshire Dales sites we have yet to explore.
