Lovely site. Issues with the loos.
This is a lovely site in a beautiful location. Clean, tidy, and a relaxing, pleasant place to be. Very nice, spacious information room was a nice surprise, as many are little more than a small shed. We had no problems accessing this with a wheelchair.
Watch out for the speed bumps on the approach. They are unnecessarily violent, and not easy to see with a low sun casting shadows across the lane. The yellow paint which once warned the caravanner of their presence has worn off long ago. A tiny sign is next to each one, but once you've encountered the first speed bump, it is lesson learned, and you watch out for them after that.
Several reviewers have mentioned issues with the water saving measures, and these are still a problem. We are all in favour of water and energy saving measures. However, the sensor toilet flushing is simply awful. I would like a club director to visit this site and try to have a "sit down" visit to the loo. The "seat of ease" becomes a place of stress and anxiety, as the user is treated to unwanted flushing while trying to use the toilet, and is then left waiting for the next unwanted flush, like a game of Russian Roulette. Once finished, the user is then left waiting for the cistern to finish filling before the toilet will flush. Of course, the user could just walk away and leave it, but I would suggest this would hardly be pleasant for the next user.
The waterless urinals, contrary to the confident claims made on the label which is stuck to them, STINK. And I do mean they stink so much that I could smell them from outside. They reminded me of the old Victorian gents public lavatories that were still in use when I was a child in the 1970s.
I agree with the previous reviewer about the lack of greenery leading to feeling of being wide open. Maybe take a look at Chatsworth to see what they have done.
Overall though, it's a lovely place to stay, and we will return.
