Great location

Great location in the New Forest , plenty of cycle rides and walks from the site. However the site is not attractive, looks like a carpark , with hard standing pitches and no privacy between them. It's the forest so the club should do more to make it at one with the environment. Hedging or trees around the site would be ideal as others have stated. The energy saving devices are good in principle but as other reviews have said , the flushing is intermittent, so not very user friendly. The toilet block is very clean and modern , one of the best we have seen on club sites. The cost of staying here is expensive , and had we not had a free voucher for one night we would not stay here . The nearby forestry site was £20 less and ok there are no toilet blocks but not sure this warrants a £20 difference.

Lovely site. Issues with the loos.

This is a lovely site in a beautiful location. Clean, tidy, and a relaxing, pleasant place to be. Very nice, spacious information room was a nice surprise, as many are little more than a small shed. We had no problems accessing this with a wheelchair. Watch out for the speed bumps on the approach. They are unnecessarily violent, and not easy to see with a low sun casting shadows across the lane. The yellow paint which once warned the caravanner of their presence has worn off long ago. A tiny sign is next to each one, but once you've encountered the first speed bump, it is lesson learned, and you watch out for them after that. Several reviewers have mentioned issues with the water saving measures, and these are still a problem. We are all in favour of water and energy saving measures. However, the sensor toilet flushing is simply awful. I would like a club director to visit this site and try to have a "sit down" visit to the loo. The "seat of ease" becomes a place of stress and anxiety, as the user is treated to unwanted flushing while trying to use the toilet, and is then left waiting for the next unwanted flush, like a game of Russian Roulette. Once finished, the user is then left waiting for the cistern to finish filling before the toilet will flush. Of course, the user could just walk away and leave it, but I would suggest this would hardly be pleasant for the next user. The waterless urinals, contrary to the confident claims made on the label which is stuck to them, STINK. And I do mean they stink so much that I could smell them from outside. They reminded me of the old Victorian gents public lavatories that were still in use when I was a child in the 1970s. I agree with the previous reviewer about the lack of greenery leading to feeling of being wide open. Maybe take a look at Chatsworth to see what they have done. Overall though, it's a lovely place to stay, and we will return.

Fabulous site,

Such a beautiful site in the heart of the New Forest đŸŒ³, kept very well presented by the hard working wardens, it puts other sites to shame, constantly working on maintaining and improving the ambiance and atmosphere around the site. Please thank Peter, Jenny, Nina and Adi they deserve a reward

Disappointed with the lack of privacy for pitches

The positives for this site are: pleasant location, very good staff (friendly and professional) and excellent facilities. Sadly the negative issue of a lack of privacy for pitches was such a disappointment to us. The site is very open and there is just not any privacy. It appears that the site is designed to maximise the number of units. However, this could be remedied with some simple redesign and appropriate planting. The site is in a good position in a National Park. It is reasonable to expect the site layout to reflect that and include wildlife corridors such as appropriate hedging, shrubs and trees (that will provide privacy as well as environmental benefits). This would take some time to establish but would infinitely improve the site and demonstrate environmental credibility.

Ideal for us

Right in the heart of the New Forest, walks from the door whichever direction you set off in. Lots of suggestions of places to visit in the information hut as well as guides produced by the New Forest Parks Agency. Definitely worth downloading their app giving suggestions on circular walks, etc., plus the maps are interactive so you can't (shouldn't) get lost. Many places to visit but Bucklers Hard is a must with a walk into Beaulieu following the loops to keep near to the river. May not be the cheapest in the list but it must be one of the friendliest and best maintained.

Excellent site

This is the most expensive club site we have stayed at, but it was worth the money. Lovely location, great facilities and friendly and helpful staff. Great for the dog as well as able to walk in the forest direct from the site.

Beautiful site

Beautiful quiet site Love the walks and our dog especially liked the stream which was 5 minutes walk from the site. You can cycle into Brockenhurst in about 10minutes. There is a lovely bakers, pet shop and butchers aswell as a couple of tea rooms. It would be about a 40 minute walk. Will definitely return just a shame it’s such a long way from home

Excellent location, Excellent site, great staff

The site is excellently placed for access straight onto the forest in just a couple of hundred yards. Brockenhurst is in easy walking distance and many different walks are possible from site. The facilities are excellent and very clean . The staff are very friendly , efficient and helpful. Food vans arrived every night Mon-Friday. The dog area on site is very small but this should not be a problem as forest is on the doorstep. Essentials and ice creams are available from the small shop and lots of information is available in the information hut. Unfortunately the Wi-fi is absolutely awful and the site has now done away with dustbins and all rubbish now has to be taken to the Biffa bins at the site exit . (I was told that this was now CAMC policy for reasons of sustainability and recycling - I can see that this saves the need for black bags - a cost saving that the club will no doubt pass on to its members- but resulted in us recycling less as we put everything in one bag as we had to take it to exit and could not just pop to the nearby bin, I also note that neither of the other 2 CAMC sites which we stayed on in August had done away with dustbins, nor had other sites we stayed on earlier in year ). This was our 3rd visit to this site this year and the 3rd year running which we have stayed here. It is a very popular (and expensive ) site but still worth it in my opinion despite the awful Wi-fi.

Good site in a lovely location

Our 2nd visit this year and although busier as it was August, it was still a lovely site. As before, the staff we all very friendly and helpful. The site is clean and tidy. Although this is a around a 25 minute walk to the village, it is across some lovely fields where wild horses and cattle roam. If you have bicycles or a car to visit the surrounding areas/town which there are many in that area, its a great central place to stay.
