When are we going to do something about Bad Dog Ow

I have just returned from Black Knowl. It is a super site - MARRED only by the behaviour of BAD DOG OWNERS. Whilst there, our holiday was spoiled by "YAPPING" dogs. I was on pitch 81 and adjacent to us was a site occupied by the owners of 4 dogs. Whenever anybody, with or without dogs, walked past they started up. Unfortunately, the owners did nothing to deter these infuriating animals for disturbing the tranquillity of the site. Every morning they took their little "pack" for a walk, but, they never got past the bank, with the wild flowers, before depositing their bodily waste on the grass. Yes, it was put into poo bags, but, the grass is never left without trace. Around my pitch there were a number of round "yellow signs" of previous dog occupiers who have left their mark for others to enjoy whilst sitting or "Eating" in the open air. Furthermore, a different owner allowed his dog to deposit his excrement on my pitch when he was walking past with his dog on the all familiar "TWENTY FOOT - (2 METRE LEAD)" WHEN IS THE CARAVAN AND MOTOR HOME CLUB GOING TO DO SOMETHING TO REGULATE "DOGS" AND DOG OWNERS WHO BESPOIL OR CLUB SITES and TOTALLY DISREGARD THE RULES. Why does the Club not introduce a limit on the numbers of dogs per caravan and make a charge for each dog with an increasing tariff for each and every extra dog. Notwithstanding, my obvious displeasure with some errant dog owners, I actually like dogs and enjoy seeing them around. Finally Black Knowl site is a real credit to the site staff and the Club in general. Well done to all the Site Staff!

Comment from the Club:

We are sorry to read you had concerns about dogs on site during your stay. Please be advised that if you speak to the site staff they will do their utmost to help and speak to dog owners if needed. As per our community guidelines we do ask that reviews are of the Club Site rather than complaints, as such please can you email your concerns to the Club UKSitesBookingService@camc.com as the relevant team will be able to review your feedback. Many thanks.

Did you speak to the warden about this, as we are asked to, and then if necessary follow it up with the club?

Yes M.E, I am it total agreement with you, and I think many members will also agree. We use CMC sites a lot because we like the quality of the sites and the excellent booking system, but the only thing that spoils it for us is situations as you have described in your review. To answer your question 'when is the club going to do anything about it' I think the answer is nothing whatso ever. My personal view regarding the guy with the pack of four dogs toileting them in the same place on site every day, is that the club should have a system on their computers and that this action should be reported and he should be warned and entered into the system. Should he get another warning he should then be banned from bringing his dogs on any CMC site. The same should apply to the use of extended leads on site.

"The same should apply to the use of extended leads on site."

There is nothing wrong with using an extending lead ,owners need to know when to let the lead out ,and its not when walking round the site

For clarity the rule says:

Please keep your dog on a lead less than 2m
long at all times when on site other than
when in designated “dog walks”, where leads
may be extended, or “dog areas”, where they
are free to roam. If tethered on your pitch,
please ensure that your dog cannot reach the
road or your neighbours pitch.

And as we all know rulz is rulz. wink

If the "problem" as is usually the case ,not reported to the site staff, how can they enter it on a computer if needed?

It is no use any other way of reporting it unless it is the usual anonymous entry/rant which is often found in the site comments book,as on here always after the eventfrown

I think the comment from the club sets out the sensible and proper course of action quite clearly but it’s amazing how many people just grumble away to themselves and then rant in a review after the event when it’s far too late for the issues to be dealt with.

If a complaint is made to the warden, what can he/she do about it? If the warden hasn't seen the member allowing the dogs to foul, there is nothing that can be done. If every body complained about the dog fouling on site and expect the wardens to do something about it, the wardens would not have time to carry out their other duties. With regard to the extended leads, the rule is there for obvious reasons but this rule is ignored by most dog walkers on site, even if the warden reminds them about the rule. They can not be on patrol all day, nor should they.

As far as the club is concerned, we all have to accept the behaviour as described in the above review.

But you wrote this above :

"My personal view regarding the guy with the pack of four dogs toileting them in the same place on site every day, is that the club should have a system on their computers and that this action should be reported and he should be warned"

How do you expect that to be achieved unless the wardens are made aware?

Also, BS, there is nothing at all to stop you having a polite word with the recalcitrant dog owners in order to help them see the error of their ways.

You admit the wardens are busy people so why not help them out in the manner of a responsible member?
