New facilities but more crowded

Black Knowl is in a wonderful position in the New Forest with glorious walks and cycle rides all around. Brockenhurst is a short cycle or 30 minute walk and has all the facilities you would need plus ponies and donkeys hanging around the streets. All the wardens I met were cheerful and professional. The site's new facilities are clean, the showers hot and not once did I have to wait for a shower when the site was full. However, they are rather clinical, and, as another reviewer has pointed out, institutional. I also felt that something has been lost with the increase in pitches and of hard standings. Although you are in the middle of the forest the view looks like a caravan storage facility. There is minimal open space and nowhere for children to play within the site. One large tree has gone and I couldn't see any additional planting apart from a few small beds. I hope there are plans to plant more trees so that the site is better integrated with its surroundings.
