WE have visited the site on a umber of occasions and have always enjoyed the stay. The access to the forest is right next to the site and is great for walkers and cyclists. The recent update to the site has made great improvements to the facilities and the pitches.
Lovely site
We stayed here at the end of October -early November, we were blessed with decent weather, the site is lovely. The facilities are second to none and clearly built and finished to a high standard.
The wardens were welcoming and friendly.
Having dogs, it was brilliant being able to walk straight off site into the forest and on the cycle tracks.
Horses, ponies and deer were sited frequently. easy to walk to Brockenhurst where there are enough shops to cater for everyones needs. The site is centrally situated in the New Forest which means no-where takes long to drive to.
Whilst the access road is in need of repair, if you drive slowly then there are no problems.
We will definitely return to this site.
Well done Caravan and Motorhome Club
This was our first visit to Black Knowl and we were blown away by the site and its location.
The standard of workmanship and finish of the new facilities is first class, yes there were a few teething problems with water supply within the block, yes there has been no planting of shrubs and trees around the site but with the acreage of grass to be cut its understandable.
If members wish to moan about fellow members carrying out irritating acts, I suggest they deal with it at the time and not moan about it at the end of there stay by putting anonymous comments in the comments book.
The wardens work extremely hard and were so busy on one day they were emptying the waste bins in the dark well after 6pm, My answer is if you can do any better then apply and join up and see how it goes!
We will be back for sure and thank you.
Members waste it for everybody else
Prior to going to Black Knowl I read the reviews especially regarding the entrance road and pot holes and yes there are many. The welcome you get when you arrive almost makes up for it. You always read that the wardens are great and friendly but I can honestly say that here you get special treatment and the wardens really can’t do enough for you. This site is in a great location especially if you have a dog. The facilities are all only 6 months old and despite one or two showers/toilets being out of order they are the best of any Caravan and Motorhome site that I have been at. The pitches are are large however the roads are narrow and it is tight getting on to the pitch due to the closeness of the opposite caravan. This is in my view the best C&M club site, however the downfall on my trip had nothing to do with staff, site or facilities. It was the selfishness of members themselves. Two things caused the problem. Firstly on the Saturday at the end of Oct half term at 6 pm when it was dark out of no where there were 30 children/youngsters on scouters or bikes having races ( in the opposite direction to the traffic flow ) it defied any sort of sense and just examplified the lack of respect of some parents. The second example of selfishness was somebody starting a van up and leaving the site before 6 am three mornings running. It didn’t help that on the Sunday the clocks had changes so it was really before 5 am. Why this person couldn’t have parked outside the gates I don’t know but it’s maybe something the club needs to stipulate.
Fantastic Autumn break for our first time
We are new to caravanning and this was our first outing, we really couldn't have chosen a better site for our first go.The location was peaceful and idyllic.
The staff were very welcoming and very helpful, The new toilet and shower block was 100% spot on, always clean and fresh.
We will certainly be going off in the caravan again, and will going back to this site.
Don't forget your bikes
Fantastic site in ideal location, access road is bit bumpy with potholes and speed humps, facilities clean though ladies shower cubicles do get wet!! Direct access to cycle trails from site, Brockenhurst is approx 2 miles away though you can cycle for miles around the trails as it's flat and if you are lucky, you will see wild pigs, ponies and deer One thing to note - this site does not have a play area so if your children are younger, you may wish to choose an alternative site
Perfect site, appalling approach roads.
We have stayed on this site several times over the years, and were very impressed with the up-grade. The new facilities block is excellent, and looks really good in this location. We agree with all the previous positive comments about the site. The biggest drawback is the approach road which has always had the oversized speed bumps, but now the number and size of the potholes has become dangerous. This is especially so in the last few hundred yards after the forest car park, and when we stayed in mid October there had been a lot of rain and it was impossible to gauge how deep some of the potholes were or even where they were. I presume that all the site construction traffic made things worse, but if this road is not repaired soon I think the Caravan Club or the Forestry Commission will be facing some fairly hefty claims for damage to vehicles.
Autumn break
The new facilities are first class with the added benefit of serviced pitches a significant enhancement. Site ideal location for forest area, particularly walking and cycling.
Lovely new facilities
Repeat visit and noted the excellent new facilities block with its timber cladding, so appropriate for this forest location. The wardens were lovely and the site well kept and the new serviced pitches very level and easy to use. 2 pitches share a water supply post so there may be a need for a slightly longer hose say about 10M but the waste drain was close to the van center line about 1M from the pitch marker so no need for an extra long waste pipe. Some reviewers have commented on the state of the approach road and whilst there are some potholes they can be avoided with a careful slow transit.
