Beautiful New Forest Site

Spent two nights at the recently refurbished and reopened Black Knowl Site. Couldn’t fault it. New toilet and shower spotless. Lovely walks from the Site into the Forest. We needed our wellies as quite muddy and large puddles on the walk into Brockenhurst. Look forward to returning.

Fabulous snowy stay!

Our arrival was delayed by a day due to the campsite being cut off with snow! The wardens were so good at keeping us up to date with the accessibility etc. and when we did arrive, were so welcoming. This is a lovely site, with fabulous walks and cycle tracks direct from the campsite in all directions. When we arrived there were lots of deer tracks through the snow in the site, but sadly we didn't see the deer this time. Lots of birds and ponies, 'though. You really feel like you are in the middle of the Forest, but with all the facilities you need! The new facilities are great - a definite improvement! Lovely warm toilet/shower block, good motorhome/campervan facilities. All very easy and convenient. Can't wait to come back again soon! (The track to the campsite is a bit potholed, but was not a problem for us.) Thank you to the wardens.

Much improved site with a few reservations

Having been to this site many times the upgrade is good however I did notice that the arrivals stop line was very close to the new barrier makeing it a bit precarious with a long outfit going through. Secondly this is the first time I’ve managed to bog down my jockey wheel on hard standing and I noticed a few others had the same problem .Ime sure this will get better next season

Great site but hazardous access

First visit since redevelopment. BUT....... Watched the redev video and saw the excavators at work - pity the contractors didn't have a spirit level as all the new serviced pitches sloped!! Some things hadn't changed though - lock on ladies toilets was broken!! I know the club will say that the access road from Ober Corner is not their responsibility but the potholes were even worse than they always were, some being 3-4 inches deep. Very hazardous for ALL users and whilst not legally liable I do feel the club have a moral responsibility to maintain it. No point having speed limit signs on site which say "helping to keep you safe" when the potholes do the opposite. The state of the road lets down what is otherwise a "flagship" (and expensive) site. If anyone at CMC read these reviews, then perhaps whoever is in charge can do something - it needs doing!

Relaxing mid week break

Decided to have a mid week break and were extremely pleased to be going back to Black Knowle. We were pleasantly surprised by the renewal of the facilities and the expansion of hard standings now, the wardens on duty were so very friendly and helpful

Didn't find the lost caravan lol. 😜

When looking at reviews before coming here I saw the one about lost caravan so was a bit concerned. As we drove down to the gates we had actually gone over the cattle grid before I remembered about it. Have seen worst pot holes on Crowley Rd in oxford lol. Can't fault the site really apart from I would agree about the closeness of the pitches as very hard to get in and out without going on the grass which was one thing the wardens where insistent on so maybe might be an idea to fill corners with a coloured shingle, just saying. Overall great site, great wardens 👍. That good we forgot to go home today so had to pay for another night which was no problem at all to anyone. We will be back.

Follow up on previous review.

Firstly apologies for "shouting" with "WE" which of course should read We. I forgot to mention that as I have reached the older age range and become a touch on the lazy side, we used one of the serviced pitches which worked extremely well with and improved waste water collection point others we have seen on club sites.

Great site an surroundings.

WE have visited the site on a umber of occasions and have always enjoyed the stay. The access to the forest is right next to the site and is great for walkers and cyclists. The recent update to the site has made great improvements to the facilities and the pitches.

Lovely site

We stayed here at the end of October -early November, we were blessed with decent weather, the site is lovely. The facilities are second to none and clearly built and finished to a high standard. The wardens were welcoming and friendly. Having dogs, it was brilliant being able to walk straight off site into the forest and on the cycle tracks. Horses, ponies and deer were sited frequently. easy to walk to Brockenhurst where there are enough shops to cater for everyones needs. The site is centrally situated in the New Forest which means no-where takes long to drive to. Whilst the access road is in need of repair, if you drive slowly then there are no problems. We will definitely return to this site.
