This was our third stay at this site & probably our last. We first visited in July 2020 not long after the reopening from the COVID closure. We had a lovely pitch & was impressed with the cleanliness & system in place for the use of the shower/toilet block. Our second visit, we arrived slightly late in the day with friends who had a motorhome, therefore options for 2 pitches together were limited & we chose a small gravel section containing 2 pitches. This area was dark with not much sunlight & a nightmare to put pegs in the ground. We were keen to try this site again and arrived at 3pm on The Friday of the August bank holiday. We pulled up at reception - the only outfit queuing/waiting, to be told that they have had to allocate pitches due the number of arrivals booked for that day. We were put in what I can only describe as a gravel car park, at the top of the site surrounded by tall trees & hedges, parallel to the main road. We reluctantly set up. It was dark, depressing & if I didn’t know better I’d say I was amongst the Isle of Man TT racing event. The noise from the road was constant through to the early hours. We were woken early again by the noise of traffic & then on one of the mornings before 9am some kind of machinery was being used, probably a lawn mower. By sunday mid morning after barely any sleep or seeing much daylight we decided to pack up early & head home. I felt really disappointed. Had we been the last people in then I would accept that you take whatever pitch is left but when you arrive in good time & there are plenty of free pitches then I think “the first come, first served” option should be offered. My caravan storage area is far superior to the pitch we were given. On a positive note, the shower blocks were spotlessly clean.

I think we are currently occupying the pitch you had!  By choice.  We were the last outfit in on a Monday. The closest spot on the site to the main road.   We only came to this site as it was the first of very few sites that had a 10 day slot available for us to book.  Most of the sites we looked at were booked up at weekends.

The weather has been lovely, the September heatwave,  and the pitch wonderfully shaded.  Yes it’s next to a main road and the road seems very popular with bikers.  But at night the road was not noisy.  But some pitches would be very quiet.

Yes I agree totally, we have just come back from visiting. I called and asked please can we have a very quiet pitch, I was told no problem. We were pre allocated pitch 9 because someone else refused it. Parallel to a main road, in a camper, the noise was unbearable. No sleep whatsoever ever.
