A pretty site, but not our cup of tea

We stayed here in May 2023, and thought we'd review this site for those thinking of trying it for the first time. Firstly, the name of Bath Chew Valley is a bit misleading as it's 13 miles by road to Bath and a similar distance to Bristol. The site is 300 metres from the shore of Chew valley lake, but is surrounded by tall hedges so you won't actually see the water until you use one of the newly revamped lakeside trails. There's a reasonable pub within walking distance, and the Spar shop (second nearest) is quite good. If you do decide to visit Bath, there's a large 'no height barrier' Park and Ride at Lansdown which is to the North of Bath and next to a large playing field. The site is well manicured with trees and shrubs, but the pitches are a little squeezed together and there was another outfit at right angles to ours with their habitation door directly opposite our rear windows. Parking of caravans is by a noisy site owned tractor. Showers and loos are of the individual bathroom type, which is nice but they were often a bit steamed up as the extractor fans weren't really up to the task. Our main issue was finding somewhere for our active dog to run around and play with a ball. The site offers a 'pet exercise area' which turned out to comprise a 150 metre path for dogs to relieve themselves whilst being kept on the lead ! Off site the local footpaths and the lakeside paths and trails are all marked 'dogs on leads'. Eventually we found a playing field at Bishop Sutton about half a mile away. We can see why many folks like this site, it all depends on your priorities I suppose. Not for us though.
