One of our favourite sites
Of the many sites we've stayed in, this is one of the best. It's a relatively small, secure and secluded site overlooking Bristol's floating harbour, to which it has direct access through a pedestrian gate. From here, it's a fifteen minute walk along the river to the shops and restaurants of Wapping Wharf, and a little further to Bristol's main shopping centre. Watershed film and media centre is also a short walk away, as is Arnolfini art gallery. The pub next door to the site - The Cottage Inn - does good food.
The facilities are clean with ample hot showers and the usual washing up area, laundry etc. The current managers, Lynsey and Chelle, are always welcoming and maintain the site in pristine condition.
The only negative thing about this beautiful site is that it's likely to be closed in 2025 for developers to build yet more flats in a city already strained to breaking point with a useless public transport system and heavily congested roads. This will mean the loss of an open space with many mature trees, and it will leave Bristol without any decent camping and caravan site.
