Baltic Wharf Club Campsite Bristol

June Stay: Perfect location to walk into heart Bristol or catch one of the ferry boats. The facilities are as good and as clean as you would expect, nice hot water in showers, which you can regulate to your preference. However it's the location that's the star of the show really, Perfect location to walk into heart Bristol or catch one of the ferry boats, just along the waterfront from the SS Great Britain, an easy walk into the heart of Bristol. So once you have set up, time to relax with no hassle of driving anywhere until your time to leave. We were so disappointed, to hear on our arrival, that the site will cease to exist as of December this year. What a dreadful shame.

A Gem of a Site in the Heart of Bristol

We stayed here in our campervan on 13 June. We were en route to Cornwall and visiting our son who lives nearby in Bristol. This is a great little site, very well run by friendly and helpful staff. The facilities are as good and as clean as you would expect, but it's the location that's the star of the show really, just along the waterfront from the SS Great Britain, an easy walk into the heart of Bristol. The Cottage Inn pub is next door, and is a good place for a quick drink. We didn't eat there, but the menu looked OK. Despite being so central, the site is quiet and very clean. It's a shame that the site is closing in December 2024 when the lease runs out, but the Club has secured another site about a mile away, which hopefully will be up and running soon.

Exemplary

If you want to visit a site that is operated by people who care about their customers then this is for you. I read the reviews before our visit that nearly all compliment the excellent service they received from Lindsay & Chelle - I now understand why & they’re a credit to CAMC. Right from the booking process I received a friendly welcome from Lindsay who went out of her way to personally accommodate our mototorhome on a suitable pitch to fit it’s size, until leaving nothing was too much trouble for them to assist with our needs. We commented frequently how facilities were well maintained & spotlessly clean. The location is unbelievably well situated for easy walking access to Bristol City centre. We heard of the uncertainty regarding the future of the site & believe it would be a travesty should it be lost. Would give above 5* rating if possible & can’t wait to go back.

A little slice of Baltic Camping Bliss

We stayed with our caravan for a couple of nights over the Bristol AJ Bell run week end. It was our first time on the site and it will certainly not be our last! What a find. The site is superbly well managed which ensures that everyone gets to enjoy their holiday there. The site itself was surprisingly quiet and chill considering it is a city centre site - the facilities are good and clean. There are lovely touches all around the site including benches to meet new people, dog biscuits left by the resident four legged team member, lots of local information ..... The location is also fabulous with a secret gate at the back of the site leading straight on to the canal path with pubs, restaurants a gogo! The team came out to cheer on the runners and it really felt like a joyous place to stay not least because the team truly care and love the site and that is so so obvious the minute you arrive! What more can I say other than it is a fabulous campsite with a fabulous duo managing it!

A brilliant location with very welcoming and helpful staff

This was our first stay at Baltic Wharf and we really enjoyed being in the centre of Bristol - particularly near the floating harbour. We were so disappointed, therefore, to hear on our arrival, that the site will cease to exist as of December this year. What a dreadful shame. Because of this, unsurprisingly the Club has clearly not spent money on refreshing or updating the facilities and these were consequently a little tired though very clean. We hope to be able to return before the site closes and hope very much that the new site planned nearby comes to fruition soon.

Excellent!

We stayed at Baltic Wharf 6-9 May 2024 inclusive and would like to commend Lyndsay and Chelle for such a comfortable and welcoming environment. Their hard work, positive energy and helpful attitude was much appreciated especially given the site is going to close later this year. They’re certainly going the extra mile and deserve special recognition. Lucy and Mike

Another wonderful stay

We stay here as often as time and site availability allows. It's perfectly located for a trip to Bristol and with easy access to a bus stop and water taxis. Our latest visit did not disappoint and once again, Wardens were a credit to the Club. They had done a wonderful job with the lovely flowers and planters - and the 'talking bench' is a great idea.

Friendly, efficient and effective

We received a really warm reception from Lyndsay, I had messed up our booking but she took it in her stride and organised things behind the scenes and went to the trouble of ringing me to let me know. Brilliant service, couldn't ask for more, thank you. The site is small but in a brilliant spot, so much to do within walking distance and beyond. We walked into Bristol and to SS Great Britain which is less than 10 minutes away. We drove to the Aerospace Museum where they have the last concord and to Tyntesfield House. Our car is old and we had to pay the ulez fee but it worked out cheaper to pay that than take the bus. The facilities are showing their age but they were kept very clean and tidy. We will definitely return.

Perfect location and lovely warm welcome

First time stay here and big thanks to Chelle and Lyndsay for everything they are doing to make this site so welcoming. Lovely touches, really loved Geoffrey the site dog’s recommendations! Facilities are spotless and the site is immaculate. So convenient for access to Bristol and took advantage of Chelle’s recommendations for food venues. Would definitely want to return.

One of our favourite sites

Of the many sites we've stayed in, this is one of the best. It's a relatively small, secure and secluded site overlooking Bristol's floating harbour, to which it has direct access through a pedestrian gate. From here, it's a fifteen minute walk along the river to the shops and restaurants of Wapping Wharf, and a little further to Bristol's main shopping centre. Watershed film and media centre is also a short walk away, as is Arnolfini art gallery. The pub next door to the site - The Cottage Inn - does good food. The facilities are clean with ample hot showers and the usual washing up area, laundry etc. The current managers, Lynsey and Chelle, are always welcoming and maintain the site in pristine condition. The only negative thing about this beautiful site is that it's likely to be closed in 2025 for developers to build yet more flats in a city already strained to breaking point with a useless public transport system and heavily congested roads. This will mean the loss of an open space with many mature trees, and it will leave Bristol without any decent camping and caravan site.
