Great site

Wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleased with the site. The toilets and showers were very clean, the site itself is in a fantastic position for visiting Bristol, also bus and train into Bath etc etc. During our stay it was very quiet with only the occasional siren in the distance as one would expect in a city. The walk into Bristol was approximately 20 minutes along the docks, Bristol itself is a thriving city centre with lots to do and see, including some great watering holes! We also had a lovely walk along the gorge under and over the Clifton suspension bridge ( a little muddy due to all the rain last week) then through some lovely streets and small parks back into the city. Next time we will book for a week or more and also take our bikes. We felt very safe.

Better than expected.

I was not expecting much from this site as it had been sold to me as a car park close to the City. However, despite its small size meaning that every available piece of land is given over to pitches, we had a great stay here. The site was looking rather grubby but that was due to all the recent rain and leaf fall and I imagine that this is a very different looking site in summer. Check-in was fast. Some pitches are not level and ramps are required, levellers were in use of some pitches. TV reception is a bit hit and miss but there is a connection on the hook-up post that can be used. The wi-fi is non existent unless you go to reception. I don't see this improving with the loss of this site only a year away. We only used the disabled facilities which were always nicely clean with good water pressure - no complaints here. We experienced no noise from the nearby pub, but there were several emergency vehicle sirens, but this is a City Centre after all so should be expected. We did not come across drunks, druggies or beggars during our stay. There is a mini-Morrisons nearby which has all the basic food items you might need. Cycling - Not far to get access to the Bristol to Bath path which is in incredibly good condition, if somewhat poorly signposted so be aware of your route before you go. In the opposite direction we went to Ashton Court which was pretty much traffic-free and well worth the visit. Good tearoom there too. We went on to cycle the path along the Avon Gorge and under the Clifton Suspension Bridge. It was very wet on our visit but in the dry this would be even better. There is a motorhome waste point, but it is a lift the lid type, and we had to face the wrong way to use it - again this won't change. Finally, this site served us well. We did all that we wanted to do. We felt safe and we were comfortable. The site was better than expected. We are likely to return.

Here again.

Good choice of pitch unlike some sites this year, when pitch has been allocated. Lots of rain but doesn't bother us.we are always glad to be here. Facilities a bit tired and awful rank smell after running water in wash cubicles. Makes a change to arrive via Hotwells and no noise from roadworks. Buses in evening are useful. Spent money in shops and pubs.its a shame council don't appreciate this site,as more and more people seem to be buying caravans and motorhomes. After 25+ years we still look forward to coming here and keep booking for events in the city.

Great site

We originally booked 3 nights here, but within 5 minutes of pitching up, we booked an extra night. Great site, great location, right next to the river, and water bus runs from outside the rear gate, Thursday to Sunday straight in to the centre of Bristol. The Cottage Inn, a two minute stroll is a good local, well kept beer, can’t comment on the food, too many other places to eat, so never made it. The Underfall Cafe is an easy 10 minute stroll, and has wonderful views up the river towards Bristol. The wardens, Andrew and Diane, work very hard to keep the site lovely and neat, and they were very helpful with any queries we had about where to eat and best places to visit. We will be visiting again, only just scratched the surface of this lovely city.

A delightful site and amazing location.

The location of this relatively compact site more than makes up for the aging facilities. The site wardens, Dianne and Andrew (both of whom are very welcoming and friendly) keep the site clean and tidy. Bristol is a fabulous city, the centre of which is within easy walking distance around the historic harbour frontage. If you don't mind some road noise during the day or the occasional sound of sirens at night (it's a city, after all) this delightful site and amazing location will not disappoint.

Baltic Wharf September 2023

This is a wonderful site in the heart of the city, there are bus stops outside the site and the Harbour Ferry stopping at bthe back of the site. The wardens work like trojans to keep the site clean, welcoming and tidy. There are a couple of problems, both beyond the control of the club. Firstly the neighbours, these are a pub, The Cottage, and the sailing club. The Cottage run discos at the weekend with the music at full volume until almost midnight. The sailing club run regattas when they turn the PA system up to full volume for anythinjg upto 6 hours. The second problem area is with Bristol and Bristol council. We have stayed on the site a number of times and Bristol was always a nice place to walk round, now however it is full of gangs of beggers, homeless groups and drug addicts looking for their next fix or sleeping off then last one, these are the comments of the locals we spoke to. Bristol council has become an anti-car council. They close roads to anything but bicycles and do not put diversion signs up, they seem to have that attitude 'if you are local you will know the way round, if you are not why are you trying to get there?' My sat nav is now lying in a dark room crying. The site is brilliant but be aware of these problems if you are planning to go there.

Little gem

Lovely little site in the middle of a vibrant city. Not the prettiest in terms of greenery but staff and facilities make up the shortfall. Easy walk along the river to shops and far too many eateries and pubs! Think this site’s days are numbered if current information is to be believed. Such a pity. Shame CAMC don’t have more sites like this.

Long may it remain

Whilst this is not the easiest of sites to access, it is worth it, just make sure you follow the map and detailed directions information from the club. We use the site for visiting family, but you have the added bonus of all that Bristol has to offer and a riverside location. The wardens, Andrew and Diane, were visibly working hard to maintain the site standards despite the forewarned closure of the site. Let’s hope Bristol has a change of heart and allows the club to remain

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

A pitch here is like living in a Bristol Harbour apartment. Loads to see and do easily. We used the local busses to go to:- -Into town -Weston S Mare. -Clevedon - Up to Clifton and the suspension bridge by bus and walk back via the Zig Zag path to the Avon Gorge bottom and then to the site. Just Magic.

Glad to get away.

Like coming home !! Bit construction noise this time, but not a problem. Surprised to see empty pitches.yes toilet block a bit tired and I miss shower curtains but its so much more than just a pitch for the night. Bristol has so many places to see we always seem to say we will get to something else next time. The council still don't seem to realise what an asset this place is. The amount to time and money we have spent over the years isn't something we think about !! You can take your pick of empty flats for sale walking into city, yet more being built. Leave this site alone !! One more trip booked hope its not last one.
