Great Site and Awesome Managers
So a site so close to a city Centre, and having read the reviews we were expecting the worst in terms of noise and distractions but this could not be further from the truth, and we really wanted to visit this site!
Being so close to a vibrant city you can hear ambulances and police cars at any time of day but the road outside the site does not really disturb, even with the building work.
This is all put in perspective by the amount of bars, restaurants and attractions you can walk to from the site. The first time you walk through the gate at the back at of site onto the Wharf can only be described as a wow moment. The Wharf is so picturesque, and the places to visit would take several weeks to explore them all. We tried as many as we could during our 6 night stay.
The Cottage next to site is a great place to sit and see what’s going on the Wharf, although we did not eat here we had drinks most evenings and the food being served looked excellent. Just across and a short walk is the Pump House, great service and we can recommend the mussels and Crab filled potato skins.
A short walk when turning right out of the codded gate take you to Cargo 1&2, small businesses and restaurants all built in shipping containers, we ate at Gambas Tapas bar. The service and quality of the food was amazing, even if we did not understand half of the menu. Walk a little further and you come to some familiar chains, Revolución de Cuba, Wetherspoons (V-Shed), Piano and Pitcher and several others.
We travelled from Staffordshire during major HS2 works on the M42 so left early but where worried about arriving early, so called the site, they could not have been more friendly. They explained that they could not accept early arrivals but if it was only a few minutes they would try and help. When we finally arrived another 45 minutes later and well past the earliest check in time we had a good laugh with site managers who told us they were not worried, they clearly knew the traffic around the City better than us an knew it was not going to take us only 15 minutes to complete the last 4 miles.
When arriving take care as there are lots of road closed around the City and make sure you approach the site from Commercial Road travelling West down Cumberland Road as you cannot currently get to the site travelling the other way which I know caused others on site a few problems, and even our Uber driver bringing us back from a great meal at Revolución de Cuba.
We had a great week here and will certainly be back again providing the lease gets further extensions.
