Possibly my favourite club site?

I always enjoy my visits to Baltic Wharf, it’s such a special part of Bristol, and being central to all the facilities of an attractive and vibrant city is a big plus. It’s worth mentioning that the bus services from the site along the Cumberland Road have improved hugely recently, with the m3 metrobus offering a frequent service into the city centre and shops, and similarly the A1 to Temple Meads Station. And thankfully the metrobus roadworks are mostly finished now, at least on Cumberland Road. Once parked up it’s easy to leave your vehicle on site. Despite the slightly outdated facilities block (due to the threat of the site being redeveloped by the council) it has always been kept spotlessly clean on all of my visits, and both the summer and winter wardens have been ever attentive and helpful. Okay, so some of the pitches are a tad cramped, but that means more of us can get to stay here. And I appreciate that the gates are locked at night, which as a solo traveller makes me feel safe and secure. I just hope the Club has noticed that this is a very, very, popular site, and will continue to fight to keep it. The trend in “holidays”, as the Club magazine quaintly calls them, has changed. Members no longer want to be always beside the seaside or up a mountain, and they want to travel all year. The Club needs more of these cosmopolitan sites.

An update to my November review, the A1 service along Cumberland Road now charges a flat rate £8 each way, whether you go all the way to the Airport or just one stop. And you can’t use your bus pass either! But m3 is still a wonderful service running every 15 minutes, and bus pass friendly.
