Not a 5 star site
We were on this site in February 2019, during the exceptional period of warm weather. We had followed the reviews that said how good the site is, and go now before it closes etc. But sorry fellow members, you need to remove your rose tinted spectacles.
Yes the location by the historic wharf is excellent but that's the only thing this site has going for it.
The facilities are just about 3 star, there are only 6 shower units, 3 for each sex, for a 60 pitch site. The motor home service point is in a ridiculous position, to empty tanks at the end of your stay you need to rejoin the one way system and hope there's nobody on the point in front of you. You then have to scrabble under your vehicle to put the waste line into the only drain. We were told off by a warden as some of our water overflowed, my remarks about improving it were met with a shrug. The chemical emptying point is in the open, good luck to anyone pitched close by.
The pitches are small and if you are on the road side of the site, the noise is like camping in the central reservation of the M6.
There was a family in a caravan close to us and their children were playing in the gravel as there are no facilities for children.
I understand that nothing is being spent to improve this site because of it's likely closure but unfortunately in real terms, that's what it needs in order for it to remain anywhere near to the standard we expect of the club sites.
