Just got back from Bristol, love the location of this site and yes the facilities are getting a little tired but with the impending closure I understand. Been to some great sites recently with some great friendly wardens but I have also encountered wardens that seem to forget that we are paying for the service and they are not doing us a favour. We had mixed weather over the weekend so wanted to take advantage of today's great weather a tick a few more things from the to do list and politely asked for a later chevkout (as per point 15 in the CMC guide). We received a firm no and told even though the site was only half full they did need to follow that rule and needed to be off by 11:30. Where is the common sense of this? I understand when sites have full bookings but in this case it felt purely it was someone trying to force the authority! Had similar experience in York Rowntree from arrogant wardens....Hawes, Buxton, Castleton & Kendal where fantastic in comparison. FAO all wardens please remember we are paying customers, you are not doing us a favour you have function and you are there to facilitate our stay and provide a service by looking after us and the facility. With no customers you are not needed, please reflect on this!
