Gem of a Site

We stayed for 3 nights in May. The site is small but not cramped. The site is in an excellent location for the city. The lockable back gate takes you straight out onto the river. There is a pub next door - the Cottage Inn - which does nice food. There are a couple of pubs if you walk around the floating harbour to the other side of the river. It's a nice walk or cycle into town or you can get a water taxi from the pub - discounted tickets if you show your membership card or key fob. There are bus stops very close to the site entrance. The facilities are dated but clean & functional. We were lucky to get a pitch close to the river so the road noise did not bother us. The gates on the main road close at 8pm and there is no barrier so it is common sense to lock up/secure bikes, chairs, tables etc... We found a cycle route under the suspension bridge that skirted a railway line & country park. On the other side of the river, there is also a safe, but noisy, cycle route along the A4 towards the M5. We loved the site so much that we immediately booked to return the same time next year. It is such a shame that the Council wants to build houses on the land. I hope they change their minds because this site is open all year & brings a lot of tourism to the area.
