Great Site

Last of our 3 single night stop overs we had throughout January 2015. A brilliant site to stay at for a city centre break. The site has virtually no grass to cut so it is very peaceful year round. This is the only site I have stayed on that has music & radio playing quietly in the background inside the toilet block. Simple but a nice touch.

Superb location.

It is such a shame that this site is still almost certainly going to close. The location right on the dockside could not be better, plenty of places within easy walking distance, or by water-taxi. Given the threat, it is understandable that the facilities are not quite 2015 spec but they are immaculately looked after by the friendly (and well-informed) staff. Just back from two nights (one freezing, one wet) and two days- wall to wall sunshine! Not bad for January.

Lovely site

This is a lovely well kept site in an excellent city location with easy access to central Bristol. As has already been said it will be a shame to lose the site but I suppose it is only to be expected that the council will want to make money on the sale of the site now that this area has grown popular.

Baltic Wharf

Just spent a week at the site. Enough has been said about its location. The wardens were very welcoming and helpful. It was a very clean site. We used our bus passes for trips into Bristol. Of interest members of the CC receive a discount on the harbour ferry which stops outside the Cottage Inn. Just show your membership card or gate key fob. This is our 4th and last visit and we will miss this site when it closes.

Perfect such a shame it is being closed

The perfect site with the city, harbour, walks and museums all within easy access. Boat taxis and buses close by as are several excellent restaurants. Bristol has so much history there is always something to see or do. The downside - the council in its wisdom thinks the site could be put to better use as flats. With all the empty warehouses being converted it can only be money behind their decision. Will be a great shame to lose this site and the revenues local services gain from it.

Pleasurable Stay January 2015

Would like to say how pleasurable it was to stay at this site with the current wardens making us feel most welcome. They were most helpful and informative. They are a credit to the Caravan Club. Such a contrast from our previous stays at this site. It is of course a pity this site is due to close after August 2015 where I understand the Bristol City Council are selling the land for private development. It will be a big loss to the club in such a central location with easy access to the city. This unfortunately will be difficult to replace. There are good local amenities close-by with an easy walk to the Marina Quay, SS Great Britain attraction and the City Shopping Centre within easy reach.

January 2015 - First Visit

This site is so well placed, it will be a shame if/when it closes. We have tried a few times to stay here, but as it’s so popular this was our first, and probably last visit. It has to be one of the best located sites on the network. Everything was spotless, and the wardens were extremely helpful. The walk into Bristol was a pleasant stroll along the river. A personal favourite was the Grain Barge opposite the site.

Sad to hear it is closing

Having stayed here on several occasions, it was sad to hear that the site will be closing in August of 2015. Bristol City Council owns the land upon which the site is located and has decided to close the site in order to build " a school". However, we heard from three different local sources that the site is to be sold for re-development to build flats and apartments. Whatever is built will mean the loss of one of the best sites in the UK.

So sad this site will be closing

We have used this site for many years to have short breaks in Bristol. It's so lovely, just a short stroll into city centre along the waterfront. It's always kept to a very high standard and the small improvements to remove grass strips between non-awning pitches was a wise move as there is now far more usable room. Bristol City Council I feel have a hidden agenda taking back this site, as it would be prime real estate land for waterfront flats. I think their plans for a school are probably a smoke screen? Locals do not want this site to go, those using the site do not want to see it close and as it is always almost full all year round (and a struggle to get in at any time) with no other site within miles of the city its just does not make sense. I am only glad that we have over the years been able to experience such a wonderful site.
