Hope its not last visit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good few days as usual at the really great site. Very shortsighted council closing for a school,as council say children will be bused in then school could go anywhere, and leave this site for people who spend money in the city,We have had lots of birthdays new years, anniverseries etc and spent thousands in local pubs shops etc.Hope to visit again .

WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS!

Oh, how I agree with the last reviewer.  We visited again beginning of June for three glorious days.  The site is just perfect, situated in what we think is one of the most beautiful parts of Bristol with so much to do and so many places to eat.  We really don't know what we are going to do without it, as we go most years and will miss it dreadfully.  The Mayor ought to get himself around to the site, as by all accounts, he has made the decision to close it without even knowing what it looks like!  The council refer to it as "the campsite" so goodness only knows what they think we do there!!  It will be a huge loss if the site closes as it will be a very hard act to follow even if the CC do find somewhere else in Bristol.  It just won't ever be the same.

Please DON'T close Baltic Wharf

We're just back from 3 great nights at this little gem and wished we'd used it/discovered it years ago! It will be a great loss if it does close finally in a few months time. OK, so you really do have to pre-book to guarantee a pitch but that never bothers us. Wardens (especially Myra) are lovely and can't do enough for you. Small shower/toilet block but always clean with laundry, under-cover washing up area, information room and recycling. We had a lovely central pitch. No satellite signal but after some tweaking with our new TV and using the hook up we got loads of free view channels. Bristol itself is a fantastic city, vibrant, multi cultural and really interesting. We walked for miles, saw loads and still didn't even scratch the surface! The back gate onto the waterside directly from the site is great. Good pub next door (pub grub and not over priced), and a newsagents just down the road from the front entrance. Good choice of travel to/from the site from walking to bus/taxi/water taxi! We really want to go again and explore the city even more so please reconsider Mr Council Man!!!

Finally managed to book!

We were delighted to finally find a one night availability at this site so we could visit our daughter who lives in Bristol. I do wonder if this site is booked up by long term stayers making impromptu visits by those who cannot book ahead impossible. Anyway the site is ideal for a visit to Bristol and our hope, as and when it is closed, is that the Caravan Club will find another site with good transport links to this vibrant city for long term stayers, tourists and those like us with relatives! There is definitely a shortage of sites like this in the area and presumably a demand given the difficulty in booking a space.

I've Done my bit!

See I had this cunning plan! As a front bench councilor on a neighboring council I figured that the average Councillor knew nothing about caravans and even less about CC members. Their only exposure to caravanner's would be to the travelling fraternity and that would probably not work in favour of our cause. So I managed to book myself into the site for a three day weekend using a cancellation, and promptly invited the Mayor for coffee and cake! To my surprise he accepted! Sadly in the event he suffered a family bereavement that weekend, but sent not less than two of his deputies instead! So I was able to spend quite some time showing these two very senior Counciller's around and was very happy at their re-action. They were amazed at how clean and well organized it was, and how well up on top of their job were "Flying squad" stand in wardens Mike and Bridget! These two were real stars, and expounded on how green the site was and how few members actually used their cars once settled here on site.  In recent months, It would seem that the danger of the primary school is receeding, as the Council now needs more secondary schools which need a larger site altogether.. The real threat now comes from the value of the site, - as housing development! But we put up a good showing and have wone some important friends.   Both Deputies left very impressed indeed and had a much better understanding of what we are about; and YES!  the Mayor is still interested.

shame on BRISTOL

We share the opinion of recent reviewers. This site, right in the heart of Bristol, will be sadly missed by many people. It is too small a site for a school ( as planned by the Council ?) and, no doubt, will end up as a block of flats. We have signed the petition, but, apparently, only the views of the people who live in the area are being counted. Well done Bristol Council !! ( You don't know what you've got till it's gone )

Perfect

We all know it's closing and let's hope that the Club and Bristol can find a new location. Staying there for 10 days in March the wardens were lovely and helpful, a credit to the Club.

Could hardly be better

We had a super week here and couldn't fault the site. It's such a shame it is still doomed to closure. Can I suggest that people who've used the site visit savebristolcampsite.com where you can write to the local councillors, MP etc - it's still not too late to add your voice. We really liked the ferry along the Floating Harbour and thought our visit to SS Great Britain a real highlight. In contrast to a previous reviewer, we were really pleased that the Cottage Inn doesn't admit dogs as if it had we would have missed out on a couple of excellent meals. Not all of us appreciate your smelly wet animal rubbing up against us!
