We stayed here in late October fortunately we ignored the weather forecast and so glad we did, it did rain at night aand we were there when the hurricane swept up the country but it never bothered us, the pitches are in a wooded area which gave some protection, the site is on the edge of a lovely park where you can cycle or walk and I’m sure in the summer it will be perfect.
The local town is Markinch which has has a newly built train station which serves the area well it also has regular bus services to various towns near and far, St Andrews is within a short distance with buses to Leven and then change to St Andrews or coast liner which was very nice
The locals were all very friendly and definitely a place we will return, there are nice local bars and eating houses to visit Morrison’s supermarket and Lidi are within walking distance and so is Wetherspoons
The facilities as always on club sites were spotless the warden managers were spot on friendly approachable people. We are on the 3 network and that was very good, like I say it’s a 5 minute walk into town and a 8 Minute walk to the train station
Balbirnie
Set on the edge of a large park in an urban area we used this site for an overnight stop. We arrived in very wet weather and due to grass pitches being taken out of action a hardstanding pitch had been reserved for us and other arrivals that day. Our pitch was level but under trees which dropped pines cones and beech mast onto the roof of our van, quite noisy! We turned our van to face inwards as the alternative view was local housing. Some parts of the site looked very gloomy due to the position which is in a sloping wooded outer corner of the park, don't expect views or much light. There were nice touches from the wardens who had brightened up the pitch edges with flower planters. If returning to the area we would head for the lovely nearby coastal villages rather than this site.
Not for us!
We came to this site as my grandad used to rave about how lovely it was, and as he passed earlier this year, we came as a tribute to him. The site is on the edge of a country park which had nice walks, but we wished it was in the middle of the park, rather than edged on the other side by a housing estate. But, that is our preference and others may be happy with that location.
The site itself is almost in two haves, with one area set on gravel, pretty unattractive, more like a car park and the other area is under trees with a mix of grass and gravel pitches. It was busy so we had a grass pitch but had difficulty finding one that was not wet. The only one available was slopping and our levelling blocks were not enough to level the van. The pitch next to us was used by a large motorhome who became stuck on driving in and we had to push him out! I think this area should have been coned off. The unit opposite us was struck by a falling branch from the overhanging trees. The most annoying thing was the building work going on next to the site and some people moved away from that area due to the disturbance.
The facilities were excellent and the wardens were great.
Last Scottish Stop
This was the last stop of our Scottish trip. It was easy to find and the access is good, A well kept site with good clean facilities. The pitches are in little cul de sacs, and on various levels, It's right by a park so a good place for dog walkers. The site backs on to a housing estate but there was no noise disturbance while we were there. Being under trees is a bit of a pain when it rains - constant dripping! The small town is a stroll away, it has a newsagent come general store and a couple of pubs but little else. We toured The East Neuk of Fife from there, St Andrews is well worth a visit as are the coastal towns and villages. The Wildlife - Deer Sanctuary was a bit disappointing!
All in all a good base to 'do' the area from.
Very good site
In response to one reviewer, there is every point in saying how good the wardens and the site are. The warden here is extremely obliging, helpful and friendly and goes out of his way to make your stay as good as possible. Excellent service like this should always be recognised.
The site can be a little gloomy under the trees on a dull day, but it is quiet and well kept and very welcoming. It is very close to adjacent houses, but this did not cause any problems and the proximity of shops, pubs and station is very convenient.
We would stay here again, if only for the welcome and service received.

GREAT SITE FRIENDLY WARDENS
We booked this site just for a weekend away hoping the weather would be good but hey ho its Scotland afterall, didn't put us off we done plenty walking with our dog they have a great big field and woodland area surrounding the site as its in the grounds of balbirnie house hotel.
Markinch is literally on the doorstep however not much in the village but few pubs for grub in which you can take the dog with you, few shops also handy if you need anything
It was a really busy wee site right in the woodland area which is lovely albeit you are next to a housing scheme but that's not off putting.
Toilets/showers are immaculate key coded which is a fab idea, also you get a key fob for coming and going within the site which is ideal.
Wardens friendly which always helps so keep up the good work guys.

Short stay
A very peaceful well run sight with just a few minor details that could be improved,i.e,loose toilet seats, could do with more showers.Staff are very helpful and approachable.Although we only stayed the one night on this occasion,I would not hesitate to book a longer stay.
2 Day stopover
Been here before for the same reason , doing biking event locally , nothing wrong with the site or the wardens , but can I just say to other reviewers , stop going on about the wardens being helpful and the toilet block being clean , you pay for this and after all it's their job , what do you expect ? unhelpful staff and dirty facilities ? I found them pleasant and helpful but all reviews seem to bang on about the same old things . People who haven't been to the site before need a little more advice than this . Won't be staying here again , but that's because twice anywhere is enough ---there's a big country out there .

On Tour Of Scotland
This was our last site on a tour of Scotland we have stayed here before and would recommend this site for touring the Fife area there is a lot to do and see. The site is well laid out among trees
The warden are the hardest working wardens we have met, the site is well maintained and the toilet block was spotless, we became friends with the wardens who gave my wife some strawberry plants.
Beautiful Site
Stayed one night here and was lucky to also taken in the Highland Games, this is a fantastic site, the setting is amazing, Wardens and cleanliness of the site first class, the warden couldn't do enough for the guests that are staying here, I even helped myself to the fresh herbs they have grown (for us) which was a lovely touch for our evening meal.
We will defiantly be back to this little gem stone, excellent keep up the fantastic work you do
