Ease of arrival/welcome

A Peaceful, relaxing place to holiday!

We have just got home from an amazing half term holiday at Wymondham Windmill, and already looking forward to visiting again! The site is beautiful, amazing views across the surrounding area, quiet and very relaxing. Although the site is on a slope, the owners have a large basically level area which means we didn't need our levelling blocks at all. There are currently only 2 electric hook ups (owners are getting more put in very soon), these are not in the best location, however the owners have lots of very long extension cables making it easy to hook up. On arrival we received a really lovely, relaxed welcome, with the owners giving us our space to choose where we wanted to pitch but were on hand if we had any questions. We chose this site as it had the children’s play area, our boys are 3 and 5, the play area had lots of very old, well loved toys, perfect for our boys to rush about with and burn off some energy. The woodland walk took me only about 8 minutes to walk around with the kids and we found it perfect for bug hunting! The Café opens at 10am and we went up twice for breakfast, it is very reasonably priced (we had an all-day breakfast for £4.95 each) with the most expensive items being lasagne and all day brunch for £5.95, the food is delicious with good sized portions and upstairs in the café are a couple of comfy chairs in addition to some tables and lots more toys for children, all really well thought through. The windmill was really nice to go up (free of charge although there is a box to collect money to help the owners restore it). While we were there we had quite a bit of rain, however the site is really well drained and soon dried out quite well. Due to the rain we didn’t manage to get out to do any of the walking we had hoped to, however it looks like a beautiful area to walk or cycle (there is a cycle repairs and accessories shop on site as well). The pub in the village is just a short walk down the hill and there is also a small general store in the village. Although the tearooms and shops seem to be really quite busy, as the CL is the other side of the house to the tearooms you still have your privacy and can only hear the occasional noise from the play area. As the site is new, all the waste/water areas are clean and easy to find and there are plenty of bins as well as recycling bins. Also worth mentioning that as the owners own the tearooms we were able to pay by card instead of having to go and get cash sorted out! Overall, this site is peaceful, beautiful, and made for an amazing family holiday, perfect for young families during the school holidays with all the bits for kids to do but my husband and I would very happily visit on our own as the site is so tranquil!
