Fabulous CL

Along with friends, we spent last week at Wrekin View and can only echo the 5 star ratings from other members. The owners were friendly, nothing was too much trouble and they even allowed us to store our cycles in their shed. Upon arrival we were met by Brian and advised where to park informing us to keep well forward on the pitch to avoid acorns dropping on our roofs. There is lots to do and see in the area and unfortunately we ran out of time, we could have easily spent another week there. We shall definitely visit this site again. A big thank you from the 4 of us

Overall, a good stay

It seems slightly unfair to offer any somewhat negative comments, when the owner is so friendly, but this is a review after all, so I am telling it as I saw it. This is effectively an eight-pitch site, with the first three reserved for friends and family, with the CL beyond that, in the same field. The site is long and harrow, sloping down from left to right, and if there were only the five pitches, there would be plenty of space, but as it is we thought it was cramped, as evidenced by many campers having to park their cars in front of their vans, as there was insufficient room to the side. Pitches one to three had hardstandings, four and five are grassy, and slightly larger we thought, but of course these were taken when we arrived. We were allocated pitch 3, even though 1 and 2 were vacant, and I got the impression these were reserved for regulars. Unfortunately, our pitch was next to the elsan disposal point. Having got ourselves set up, we were bombarded by acorns from the tree above, so had to wind up the legs and move forward 6 feet. The owner was apologetic, and said this only usually happens later in the year, but there were acorn husks all across the gravel and grass near us. Security is tight to say the least, with a gate and a recorded voice bellowing 'you are being recorded by CCTV' every time I left the site on my morning jog. Recycling had to be bagged up before being left in the bin, meaning extra plastic, which seemed odd. We had booked a week and overall had an enjoyable stay, but it was not particularly cheap and I doubt we would stay here again, mainly for the cramped feeling we endured.

Lovely welcome,

We stayed with our motorhome. This is a very relaxed site and ideal for cycling. It is on cycle route 81. Brian made us feel very welcome and we would recommend it to all. The village of Upton Magna is only a short distance away if you need to pick up supplies. Thank you Brian for a lovely visit.

A Warm Welcome Awaits No2 May 2021

Stayed at this friendly CL back in 2018 and at long last have managed a return visit in May 2021. Lovely Chatty welcome, quiet, lovely views over the Wrekin, good walking, easy access to Shrewsbury, fully serviced pitches, elec, water and grey waste Pitches are slightly sloping, there are timber packers about so just be aware. Despite what a previous reviewer has said the site feels spacious and there is more than enough room for van awning and car.

Excellent CL, lovely owners, pretty and peaceful location

We enjoyed a week on this excellent CL in June booked at short notice with friends of ours. Brian and Josie are a lovely couple and nothing is too much trouble. The site is very peaceful, well maintained and has far reaching views over agricultural land to The Wrekin. Grass and hard standing pitches are all well maintained and have water and grey waste disposal on each. Access roads are narrow but OK if taken steadily. Plenty of ineresting things to do nearby though may need to drive to many of them. Thank you, we had a great time.

ONE OF MY TOP PICKS

I don't normally leave reviews of my favourite sites because I selfishly like to keep them to myself, however I feel it's time to share my views of this one, having just returned from it. The site is kept immaculate by Brian and Josie, who are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. On arrival you are normally greeted by Brian who assists you in selecting your pitch. Each pitch has its own water and grey waste disposal. The Elson point is in the middle but fenced off, and disposal and cleaning is nice and easy. Once settled you are given a thick information folder of all there is to do in the surrounding area (during covid these are kept in a box for all to access). Brian and Josie are always available for help and advice or just a general chit chat. The views from the site are straight out across farmland, and a view of the famous Wrekin which is a local hill. In normal times the barn is open for all to use, with access to tables and chairs and a barbeque. There is also a library in there. I have a large twin wheeler and access is easy. I have never had a problem on any of the pitches. We always put up a large awning and have no trouble parking the car. The pub is a ten minute stroll down the road where you have a friendly atmosphere. I have enjoyed a very nice meal there . I can only advise other members to visit and find out how wonderful the site and welcome are. I'm sure like me you'll return again and again..

Disappointing

We stayed here in June and were surprised how tight the pitches were. We checked the satellite images to make sure there was sufficient space on the site, upon arrival found the site was split in two, one half for friends and family and the other half the CL. The pitches were short and quite narrow should you want to put an awning up, everyone parked their cars in front of their caravan in stead of beside it due to the lack of space. Worst of all we were given the pitch right alongside the chemical waste disposal point this was most unpleasant.

Great CL site

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights in July 2021. The weather was great which always helps and we spent quite a bit of time visiting Shrewsbury and "places of interest" in Shropshire and East Wales. Among others we visited Attingham Park (about 3 miles from site), Benthall Hall, Powis Castle and Much Wenlock and have to say we enjoyed them all. Shrewsbury is a great place to visit with stacks of history and the Museum in the town square is a hidden gem, and its free. Wrekin View is a great CL site with five fully serviced pitches on decent sized hard standings. You get great views across the valley to the Wrekin Hill and that's where you point your TV aerial, although we only watched breakfast TV as we sat in the sunshine every night just chilling out. The owners of the site live at the entrance and although there are no security gates, (there are gates), it still felt very secure. If you plan to visit, read the warning on the website about which direction to take to get to the site. You have to go through Upton Magna village, don't try and get to the site from the Withington/Roddington side as the lane is not suitable for caravans and very few passing places. The only negative I can think of is that if you arrived and the ground was wet, you might have a struggle to back your unit up the incline to the pitch, but that would depend on your vehicle/caravan/skill. The all important question: Would we stay here again? 100% Yes.

FABULOUS

Wrekin View is a fabulous site, lovely views, well kept grass cut short with no clippings left and lots of potted plants. Water to each pitch which is an added bonus. Plenty of places & museums to visit not far away. But one (well two) of the most important factors of this fabulous site are the owners Brian & Josie... a nicer couple you'd be hard pressed to find. Thank you for all your help. We will be back if in the area again. Ian & Sue
