What a little gem

Just come back from two weeks at Woodlands CL, great holiday at a great site. As we drove in, we thought ‘Wow’, very neat and tidy field with laid out driveways, hardstandings, a great view and a warm welcome from Kathy. (We met Joes later and he is also warm and friendly, nothing too much trouble) Nicely sited a couple of miles from Wells, convenient for shops and lots of attractions, outlet village 15 minutes drive away and the coast within travelling distance. Rain showers did not dampen our spirits, good relaxing holiday all round

Enjoyable stay

We have just Spent 6 nights at Woodlands in our motorhome and tow car and have had a lovely time. The site was peaceful and upon arrival we were met by Jo. He asked which pitch we would like and even advised to go nearer the fresh water tap so that we could fill up the motorhome easily and left us to settle in. We had a very heavy awning with us which we didn't want to put up as we had previously used it the week before so Kathy very kindly asked if we would like to store it in their Shed until we left. If your using a Sat Nav and are coming from Cornwall way make sure you come off at Junction 23 and not Junction 22 as you will be brought through Cheddar which is a nightmare with a caravan / Motorhome especially when busy ( We got caught out ). Overall the site is lovely with amazing views Jo and Kathy were there to answer any questions but left you alone if you wanted to be. I don't know how busy it will become with the static vans are up and running but it was nice and quiet with only one other caravan as well as our motorhome . It was a lovely end to great week.

Kathy & Joe Very Helpful

Kathy and Joe were very helpful. Especially when the tow car developed an unexpected fault. We were booked to stay six nights. Kathy having checked her records was able to allow us to stay the extra night without contravening the five van/motorhome rule. So I am unable to understand the previous review. Joe helped when the caravan toilet developed a fault requiring a temporary fix, by providing help using his local knowledge. Although the site has a slope this is easily compensated for by using the usual techniques. There were suitable chumps to help with the caravan stays. For those whose knowledge of Somerset is limited, chumps refers to lumps of wood. The site is in a lovely position and very well kept. We were even allowed to pick our own apples. Positioned close to Ebbor Gorge allowed us to visit twice during our stay. This is a quiet location, unlike its larger neighbour Cheddar Gorge, with a picnic area with a lovely view. To Kathy, Joe and their son stay safe and well.

5 VAN SITE ???

There are 5 hard standing pirches and 3 grass pitches, although the grass pitches are not clearly marked. We were given a choice on arrival and decided to pitch halfway up the field on the grass as it looked spacious . There were 2 more ehu's on grass at the bottom. After a day out we returned to find 8 vans on site, 4 on hardstanding, 4 on grass. 2 vans at the bottom and another van pitched right next to us. The owners are clearly breaking the 5 van rule. They are charging top end prices at £20 per night. They are also planning to put several static vans on site in the future. Fortunatly the toilet and shower was available when i wanted to use it despite 8 vans being on site. With that many vans there could have been quite a wait. The wifi is also intermittent. We chose this site because it looked nice and spacious between the pitches going on the photos on the club listing and the owners own website. This is simply not the case, the hardstandings are to close together and we lost our privacy when they let a van pitch next to us on the grass to make a total of 8 vans on site as previously mentioned. The owners seem to be more interested in making money by overbooking. We will not be returning.

Lovely welcome Kathy, Joe and Mabel the kitten!

My wife and I arrived for a five night stay in our motorhome. We chose one of the five hard standings although there are three grass pitches available if the weather is fine. The site is well maintained by the owners Joe and Kathy who are keen to ensure that their visitors have a great time. The facilities include a toilet and shower for the exclusive use of their guests. They were spotless. The excellent wifi service was very much appreciated so that we could plan our visits during our time at the site. There is an hourly bus service from the village of Easton which is a short seven minute walk away. The bus service 126 will take you to Wells which is the smallest city in England. On the other hand you could travel in the other direction to Cheddar and beyond. However the star for us, (apologies to Joe and Kathy) was Mabel the kitten. What a cutie!!! Thank you for such a great stay. James and Linda

Well Kept Site, But Not For Us

We booked to stay for four nights here, but left a day early due to ensuing bad weather conditions. On arrival there was no one to greet us. There were five hard standing pitches, but these were very close together, which doesn't give you much privacy from your neighbours. We were unsure whether or not we could pitch our caravan on the very sloping grass field where there were other hook-ups. After two telephone calls, we received a call back to say where we could pitch the caravan. We elected to pitch on the grassy slope, which was beautifully mowed. The site is beautifully kept, but with a little effort some of the grass areas could be made more level. Toilet and shower on site. We didn't use the shower, as we prefer our own. We feel that charging £20 per night for a CL is the top end for CL pricing. We've discovered that there is a site near Wells that is charging £21 per night for a fully operational site. I'm afraid we won't be staying again.

Beautiful site

Kathy and Joe have a superb gem of a CL here. With hard standing pitches and grass pitches to choose from you are assured of getting a good pitch. Lovely grass area, with picnic benches and good enclosed dog walk, and great views. The exclusive toilet/ shower are spotless and well presented. The recently installed gravel road has removed any mud issues from access to your pitches. It’s a little tight through the Cheadle route, Joe suggested the route through Wells , a little longer but think of your heart... We will return again , Fantastic 5* site Bev & Dave

Gem of a site

We have just spent 6 nights at Woodlands while visiting our son. The site is very peaceful and very spacious, just what we like when on holiday with lovely views. We were met by Joe who was very accommodating and his wife Kathy had arranged for a hard standing pitch to be saved for us. No issues with the slightly sloping pitch, we have a blow up awning which recommends a level pitch but this was fine. The facilities were very clean and the site is very well kept. My son parked his car outside the site but was informed by Joe that he could park next to us which would not be allowed on some sites so this was an added bonus- Joe is very easy going and clearly wants people to enjoy their holiday and stay at their beautiful site. Wells is a very short distance away in the car and a really nice place to visit, we also found a Gluten Free restaurant called the Court Yard in Wells- fantastic value and great food which is often very difficult to find when one of you is gluten free, check times of opening as it is family run and not open summer hours yet. Also Freddy our Bedlington terrier enjoyed the dog walk/paddock on site. Thank you for a lovely stay- we will return!

Peacefull Stay

We stayed at this lovely site on one of the new hard standings, very easy access to the site and a great welcome by Kathy and Joe. Very friendly and helpfull to help with any needs. The toilets and shower are spotless and the site is very tidy. Peacefull stay with lovely views from the site and easily accessible to many nearby places as it is a good base for exploring or there are many nearby attractions tou keep you occupied or just enjoy the site as it is very quiet. There is also a lovely dog area where you can let your dogs off as it is enclosed. Joe was saying that they will be putting a gravel drive in soon so it will make the drive out of the site much easier in wet weather for front wheel drive vehicles, but they both will help if you need a tow out with their 4wd and let you hitch up at the top. Thank you Joe and Kathy for a lovely week.

a week at woodlands.

we have just returned home after a week at woodlands . the site is a couple of miles from the city of wells with all its attractions. we were welcomed by kathy and joe who made us very much at home on their beautiful site. the site slopes and is all grass. the view of the surrounding hills are amazing. there is a toilet and a shower which have always been very clean. the main road is closed for six months so the site must be approached from wells and not from chedder. we will return again to the woodlands.
