Surprised

We have visited this cl several times over the years and was very sad to read the last review only to realise how true it was, we stayed for 2 weeks and in that time the toilet/shower was only cleaned once, there was no toilet paper (which is not a problem) but at £30 a night I would have wished for more. The only time they were cleaned was on the last couple of days when we knew the site would be fully booked - shame really as we loved the convenience of the position of the site with very easy access to all major routes

A week on the south-west coast path

We stayed here so that we could complete the Kingsweir to Starcross section of the SWCP. Being near Newton Abbott, the site was convenient for trains and buses. The site is very well maintained, with a large, modern shower room in a wooden cabin. The pitches were fairly level, all hardstanding. There are lovely views over typical hilly Devon countryside. You can hear road noise from the main A trunk road nearby, but we didn't find it that instrusive. More of a background hum. The site owners are friendly without checking in on you all the time. My one gripe is that the shower room appeared not to be cleaned in the entire week we stayed there. In the end, we cleaned the toilet, shower and basin ourselves, supplied our own toilet paper plus cleaning fluids, and emptied the pedal bin.

Definitely returning

We loved this site. It was so clean and tidy - including the cabin housing the large electric shower area, WC and sink, plus information. We went to so many places of interest. Some on the bus, like Dawlish, Newton Abbot and Teignmouth. Others by car/park and ride - like Exeter, Dartmouth, Paignton, Torquay, Brixham and Totnes. The site was really well kept and clean, with beautiful views and Heather was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return when we get chance.

Fabulous CL

The site is very easy to find and only just off the main roads so no tiny lanes to negotiate and despite the approach being on a slope, our pitch was certainly flat and level, as the others appeared to be. Each pitch has its own water point, this saves a lot of work if you take a hose pipe. The separate wooden cabin with shower, toilet, sink, info, book pile etc was lovely although we used our own facilities. It is a very rural setting with good views but still well placed to visit all the nearby popular destinations. It is a 10 minute walk to the bus stop which is roughly every half hour. We used the train station in Newton Abbot nearly every day to visit all the wonderful places on the Riviera line, however after the first day of using the bus to get there we took the car. It's just under 3 miles to the train station, but over 25 minutes on the bus which serves all the housing estate and goes to the opposite end of Newton Abbot so nearly a mile walk back to the train station. Also for 2 adult returns the bus is dearer than train station parking so yet again private vehicles trump public transport in terms of time, ease and cost. The trains are approximately 3 an hour in both directions and so cheap after 9.30am that exploring the area is magic. When we did use the car we found car parks generally want payment via app, sometimes cheaper that way too such as at the station, often accept contactless and occasionally have no cash method of payment. Teignmouth, Dawlish, Paignton, Plymouth, Exmouth all make for great days out, our only disappointment was Torquay which we found disjointed, without focus and tatty. The area is very well served for supermarkets and shops in Newton Abbot and most of the other nearby places. The CL is super clean, tidy and hassle free. Heather the owner pops around every few days (maybe more as we were out a lot) and couldn't be more friendly and welcoming. It was Mediterranean hot whilst we were there so when we were in, and at night, we had the windows and door open: no issue with road noise during our 2 weeks and we are from a very quiet rural area however obviously people have their own opinions. We loved the area, loved the site and after 15 days of doing stuff, there is still plenty left for us to visit another time.

Well maintained site and easy to access

Great views from the site. A choice of 5 hardstandings, these are a little narrow especially if you are expecting to put an awning up as well as park your car. A shed contains a toilet and a shower and an information place. Recycling facilities are available and also a chemical disposal point. Very level pitches, well maintained site, which each hardstanding having its own water point and EHU. Quiet surroundings, you can hear the road, but only if you want to listen for it!

Super little site

We just arrived home after staying on this super little site. Don’t be put off by reviews that report road noise it really isn’t a problem. There is a by pass nearby but the noise is minimal. The site is immaculate, the loo is clean as is the shower. Access is very easy and the views from the van was lovely. Nearby Sainsbury’s is great for picking up goodies, and fuel too. Nearby Paignton and Torquay are easily reached too. Thank you Heather we had a great few days .

Nicely arranged site, noisy road.

Many reviews extol the advantages of this site - it is nicely set out with generous fully serviced pitches, a shower and a loo in a wooden hut. It was windy when we came in March, and sometimes the road was very noisy with the wind in the wrong direction. We also found insects frequenting the shower, but these washed away quite easily. We can't really say why, but felt the site somehow lacked ambience. On departure we found a very friendly site nearby with a fabulous washroom for a pound a night less!

Perfect CL.

Well kept site with easy access and great facilities. Adults only so appeals to those seeking a more relaxed stay. The main road nearby produces some noise, but this is not overbearing, and is fairly quiet overnight. Heather the site owner lives next to the site and visits daily and is very welcoming and friendly with an offer to let her know of any problems. Great views from the CL across open farmland. All CL’s should be like this...will be back for sure, thanks Heather
