This site is in a great position with easy access to Whalley Warm & Dry shop and also near to Ribble Cycles. There are lots of walks nearby & a pub. Access is good and the pitches are large & gravelled.
Unfortunately the views are rather spoiled by the car graveyard at the bottom of the site. There is 1 toilet but the toilet paper was never replenished during my 2 night stay. The shower is a hefty £1 extra on top of the £20 night fee. It was not cleaned during my stay - there were discarded empty shampoo bottles etc left in the shower tray. I did try to contact the owner about these issues but no one was around and they did not respond to my text ( their preferred method of contact). At these prices I expected better and decided to use my own facilities instead. The place looked uncared for which is such a shame as it has a lot going for it. On arrival, there is no indication of where & how to pay - I asked another camper. The owner did not appear to be around.
I will probably stay at Clitheroe CC club site next time - cheaper & a better standard. I had hoped the owner would have responded to me and rectified matters, so that I didn’t have to leave a poor review, but unfortunately that did not happen.
Great little site
Really nice little site. The pitches at the top of the field are fairly level - managed ok with no ramps for a couple of nights. But further down the field, ramps will definitely be required. One toilet and one shower, but not a problem with a small site. Plenty of hot water and showers are £1 each.
Good views from the site and easy walking distance into Whaley, which is well worth a visit. If you walk, it’s about 15 minutes to the centre. Take a torch (or make sure your phone battery is charged) and / or have some reflective clothing as you will need to walk on the road form about 200m and it’s quite a busy cut through.
Couple of minutes from A59 and easy access from A671. We have a well insulated motorhome so didn’t notice any overnight road noise at all. Will be back if we are passing through and need somewhere to stop over for a night or two.
Great little site
We spent 6 nights here in May. The site is very easy to find and get sited. Friendly and helpful owner. Needed levelling ramp to get side to side level but easily done. Plenty of space on each of the 5 pitches and easy access to electric hook up. Water & toilet waste close by. Toilet and shower excellent and clean.
We enjoyed staying here and will be back.
Lots to see in the area and plenty of places to eat in Whalley and Clitheroe.
Recommended site
Stayed mid January 2022 for 3 nights as a base for walking/mtb etc. Site is located on a hill so some levelling ramps etc. required.
A great base for a few days or a stop over en route north/south for longer tours.
New Year stay
We booked for a four night stay over the New Year and would have happily stayed longer. Very pleasant site approx 20 minutes walk into Whalley which is a lovely town to visit. Plenty of walks in the area. There is a small amount of noise from the busy A road but not intrusive. Hard standing and EHU available but chocks are required as the sites are it level. Clean toilet and shower block. The only problem was we couldn't find the grey waste drain and couldn't find anyone to ask. Other than that I'd definitely recommend and we'll be back.
Lovely site - We will definitely be coming back
Just come back from a 2 night stay at Wiswell Shay Farm CL site and we will definitely be coming back in future.
Great views of the surrounding hills.
Hardstanding pitches were very spacious and the site was very well maintained even with the improvement works being undertaken at the time.
The old wooden toilet and shower block was (very efficiently) replaced with a new toilet and seperate shower block during our visit within a few hours. The owner did advise us of this work when we booked.
A pleasant 15-20 mininute walk into Whalley, 95% on pavement but there is no footpath for the first 250yds from the A59 so I would definately recommend to take torches if walking after dark.
Lots of grassy areas to walk your dog.
A very minor point - Could do with a sign at the entrance to direct you to drive left up the driveway to the entrance to the site.

Lovely site with great views
Great site. The owners have clearly spent quite a bit of money time and effort upgrading the site. The drive is newly laid and though it is on a slope, access easy. We are new to caravanning. This was only our third trip out we managed it fine. The toilet and shower were spotless and cleaned regularly. The lawned areas were well-tended and picnic benches have been added, complete with flowering tubs. Dog and child friendly. Handy for Whalley and Clitheroe and just over a mile from Spring Wood. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.
Top of our list and reluctant to let you know why!
For around two decades, both as a family of four and more recently, a couple with dogs; we have stayed on this site regularly. Different seasons but always the same reason. Twice this year since lockdown was eased.
Wiswell Shay Farm cl is conveniently situated off the a59 and a short 20 min walk into Whalley which offers dog friendly pubs, restaurants, shops, bus terminal and train station. Lots of history in the area not to mention the quaint Wiswell village itself and local pub.
Over the last couple decades we have witnessed the cl change from a field offering centres rally’s, to the 5 hardstanding pitches with electric it has evolved today. A new entrance with newly laid tarmac drive and additional toilet facilities to boot.
The lovely young enthusiastic Bell family keeps the site tidy, clean and welcoming.
In this current climate especially, we use our own bathroom, take our rubbish home with us ( and mostly do anyway with few exceptions!) and feel safe with distancing guidance here.
So you can see now why I’m reluctant to let you know why it Top of our list!!

Lovely little site
Lovely little site that is very handy for us, being only 30 mins from our storage.
WC is a bit quirky but lovely and clear and everything works as it should. A small length of hose on the waste water tap would have made cleaning the WC cassette a little easier.
Had no issues with getting onto the site although I had to ask a neigbour where to pay / book in. A little sign at the entrance would have been helpful.
Pitches well laid out.
Only slight downside was there is quite a bit of road noise with it being next to some busy roads, but otherwise perfect. Will definitely return.
Two nights became three
This site does have a very steep entrance - just keep going. As you enter the drive there is a fork; the left side has been smoothed and is the best and widest approach. If you are not sure both the left and right will gain entrance to the site - so just keep going.
The site itself has hard standings, a 16 amp electric supply which worked perfectly and also passed the polarity test that I did on my Fluke meter.
The toilet and shower are in a little shed and were very clean. There are two taps on the outside of the shed, one near the chemical waste area and one around the corner for drinking water, both taps are clearly labelled.
Bins are down by the house; we didn't find this a problem.
The site itself has lovely views, is very quiet, the pitches are well spaced out, there are picnic tables; we liked the site and stayed an extra night.
