Excellent base for cycling

Stayed July 2020 for 5 nights. As mentioned site slopes but managed to level MH using large ramps. Field may be soft after rain as our ramps began to sink slowly! Extensive views but the trade off is a bit exposed when wet and windy. Used this location to access to Tarka Trail. We would suggest that to get to it you exit the site and go up hill not down. Turn right and go along this level road and go right again. This road comes out by the garden centre. On the last 25m before the junction go on the pavement on the right which brings you to a crossing with a centre refuge. The more direct route down from site joins the hectic A road and is best avoided. Once across a sign points down to the Tarka trail down a short connecting path. Left towards Barnstaple and across the bridge and on towards Instow beach etc. You can see the cafe and bridge on the other side of the estuary from your pitch! Note coming back the same way is not easy as it is very steep. Lots of places to join the trail with kids if you take the car and bikes if easier. Site is quiet farm location and has a septic tank for toilet waste and bins/recycling etc. Grey waste is bucket and hedge! Friendly owners and an ideal base.

Do not follow sat nav arrival route and take plenty of levelling blocks

We followed the sat nav to arrive. Steep windy single lane track, but you can't access site from this route as the right hand turn to get in is a hairpin turn. So go past the turn to next roundabout , come back on your self and take the first left after the roundabout , you then turn right at the top of lane and right into the correct lane for access, your approach is then straight . Breath taking views , but very exposed site to wind as perched on the side of a steep field . Large site made up of three fields. When we left there were 7 vans there so not sticking to cl 5 van only rule, but to be honest there was so much space we didn't even see the others people or hear a sole . Quiet , peaceful with wonderful views, close to everything you want in north Devon.

A Beauty

Plenty of space and choice for siting caravan on this peaceful CL; levelling blocks needed. Spectacular views of the sandy estuary and surrounding area. Good for cycling, walking and great beaches in the area. Good pubs within walking distance and convenient for shopping in Braunton or Barnstaple. Helpful and friendly siteowner provides tourist information and a 'lending library' for borrowing/swapping of books. Tarka trail offers hours of exploration with many good stopping points along the routes.
