Fantastic site

Just had a really good week at Welltrough farm, we didn’t stay on the CL part of the site because it was fully booked. The views from the CL are amazing, but to be honest every pitch has fantastic views, and very generous sized pitches. The owner Nick has cut a grass path all the way around his land making a lovely walk, you can also walk to 2 pubs in different directions each about 3/4 mile away. Our dogs loved saying hello to the Lama’s every day. You have to pay for your electricity which Is a metered, we used about £15 for the week, heating on a couple of hours a night and heating for hot water. Plenty of canal walks close by which we enjoyed. We had lovely food at the Broughton Arms at Rode Heath which is right next to the canal. We hope to be back in the future it was that nice a site.

Just the spot!

Peaceful, clean, great views and good facilities. Warm welcome from Nick and site manager. Yes, you pay for electricity but our three night stay using heater, kettle, toaster, fridge and grill cost us ÂŁ1.70. Excellent security. We will definitely be returning. Very good location for NT and HH as well as Jodrell bank which you can see from the site. The local pub was not very welcoming so may well not return there but good alternatives just a few miles away.

Best site I have ever stayed at

I think the title of the review says what’s needed. The site is perfectly located for my needs, the full serviced pitches are meticulously kept as is the whole site. I made a suggestion to Nick of an improvement to something, it was done in less than an hour. Yes, the electricity (if you use your heating) is expensive so maybe use the gas for that. Electricity is expensive ! We will be using the site regularly moving ahead. There are no negatives.

A beautiful site one of the best

We stayed over the Easter weekend and can honestly say it’s one of the best sites we’ve ever been to. Beautiful uninterrupted views, lovely walks, with mown pathways and signage so you can’t go wrong. Even had signs to two local pubs - both only minutes away on foot. Toilet and shower were both spotless. We were on a fully serviced grass pitch. No issues at all with pay as you go electric - we used our gas for heating when needed and only spent £12 on electric for the whole weekend. It doesn’t have to be expensive as long as you’re sensible. You could tell Nick has put a lot into making his site perfect for his customers, and we certainly appreciated his efforts. Thank you. Amanda and Ian

A nice site expensive with EHU.

A well run site in terms of the pitches and the surrounding area. There are 2 toilets and showers when we were there 1 was not available it was being decorated i think. When you book please be aware that the price does not include electricity. There is a machine that dispenses £1.00 coins we used £25.00 in 2 days. I thought we had put enough in the meter but the fridge was beeping at 3am ... In hindsight we should have used our gas it would have been cheaper. We went on a Monday and Tuesday. The pubs are not open on a Monday. Nice walk around the lower field, but i would say you do need a car or bikes to get around anywhere.

Comment from the Club

Thank you for your review. We just wanted to advise that on 23.03.23 the site page entry on the website to reflect that EHU is paid by meter and we have updated it further to clarify the details provided that 8kwh are included before cost price kicks in. We hope this helps. smile

Fair

When we booked we thought it was a CL site on the members part there were 6 site is very clean lovely views although for the amount of caravan & Motorhomes that are on the site the showers are not up to standard very basic halfway through showering the water run cold not much information in the shed there was suppose to be eggs milk but we didn't see any because of the showers and the amount of caravans and Motorhomes on the site we wouldn't return

Wonderful stop

We stayed at Welltrough for 2 nights on our way to Scotland. The whole site organisation was exceptional which gave us complete peace in beautiful surroundings - thank you.

Fantastic site

Stopped here for two nights to visit friends. East access from M6. Owner had given very good directions and instructions for entry. Amazing setting with fabulous views. CL with an adjacent site with hard and grass standings. Also four glamping pods with hot tubs. Entered via a secure entry system through farm. We had a serviced pitch but there are showers and toilets. Walks on farmland are beautiful and so well signposted and grass cut. Through ancient hedgerows with huge oak trees and lots of wildlife. Owner lives on site and is most helpful. Alpacas and goats on farm but it is very quiet. Amazing views of Jodrell Bank telescope which is open for visitors, on Saturdays at the moment. A couple of pubs and shop’s within a few miles.

Top site

Stayed for 4 nights, site was well signed from the road. Electric coded security gates into farm and site. The CCMC part of the site was all hard standing serviced pitches and good sized. Great views and a cut grass 3km walk around the farm with 2 signed tracks leading off to the red lion pub and the black swan pub also a great view of Jodrell Bank telescope above the tree line. Total peace and quiet and great for star gazing. We didn't use the facilities so can't comment on them. Plenty of places to visit only 30 mins to Manchester, Chester nearest town Holmes Chapel. We walked the local area using a good network of footpaths and visited the Arboretum at Swettenham well worth a visit. We would highly recommend this site and will visit again.

Scenic and peaceful

Lovely access from a nice road up a smooth farm road and entrance via security gates. As stated by previous reviews this is not just a cl, but retains the cl feeling. No road noise just peace and quiet. I think every pitch has a fantastic view. Great farm walk, well maintained by the owners, which we walked every day with the dogs. Large clean pitches with fresh water and grey waste. Only slight downer is the electrics, yes we knew before hand 10amp but did not expect the several times we had to reset it when we were not switching on something. Yes we will be back as it is a gem.
