Can't recommend highly enough

We booked a night on our way up from Newark to start the NC500. This was our first experience of a CAMC CL site, having only recently bought our first motorhome, and we couldn't have been happier. Booking was easy and the owner, Phil, gave clear instructions for our arrival and couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. We were greeted by a noticeboard at the entrance with our names on showing us exactly where to park up. The site is immaculate, in a lovely setting with an assortment of colourful free roaming hens (locked up at night) and views of cattle grazing. We regularly watched a pair of curlews flying overhead busy protecting their young and feeding in the adjacent field. The facilities (fresh water, grey waste disposal point and elsan disposal) are together in a very clean and well designed and maintained area. There are some useful leaflets in a plastic box hanging on the fence, including one for a local supplier of freshly baked cakes who can deliver direct. We were given lots of information on what to see and where to go. There is a very good local bus service into Barnard Castle, which you flag down outside the entrance, for just £1 each one way. Can highly recommend The Three Horseshoes for lunch. We had a nice walk back, via the woods (where there was lots of wild garlic) and golf course. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked another night. The hard work that has gone into creating the site by the owners is evident, and we look forward to revisiting in the future to see how the new wood they have created has matured.

Fabulous site.

We have just spent a week at this fabulous site. It is beautifully laid out and immaculate. A huge amount of thought, time and effort has been used to make this site so beautiful and welcoming. It is a credit to the thoughtful owners, Philip & Clare Bastow. We will definitely be visiting this site again. Linda & Peter

Great 3 night stay

This is the perfect cl site for a visit to Barnard Castle and the surrounding area. We booked 3 nights and had a very relaxing time. We were welcomed by Philip who gave us lots of information about things to do including local walks. We caught the regular bus into town which stops outside the site entrance on request and certainly recommend a visit to the castle. Eggleston Hall Gardens and Tearooms is a 15 minute drive away, we took our motorhome as there is parking available. Highly recommend this CL which has excellent facilities and well spaced pitches. We will certainly return.

Delightful Site!

We stayed for 2 nights in our motorhome in May and what a lovely couple of days they were. Philip is so helpful and made us feel so welcome. The bus to Barnard Castle stops right outside the gate and takes you into the centre. The bus drivers knew Philip and treated us like special guests. You honestly could not ask for a better service. The site itself is beautiful and so well looked after. We saw so much wildlife including the owl and curlews and the hidden seating so cleverly placed is perfect for watching them. This is what a CL should be and you can see that reflected in all the lovely reviews. Philip & Clare really deserve the praise and thank you both for a great stay.

Outstanding cl

My partner and I stayed overnight on Saturday 20th May and we had the most enjoyable time in absolutely beautiful surroundings including the campsite itself. It is by far the most outstanding CL we have visited to date. It is very clear to see the passion that Phil and Clare (the owners), have for their site, they have created the most wonderful meadow punctuated by many different species of trees where seating areas are hidden and you are able to enjoy the views privately if you wish and a great way to wile away some time reading. A completely relaxing, enjoyable environment and so close to Barnard Castle and many amenities. We highly recommend this as a fantastic getaway!! All credit to Phil and Clare.

Great site, managed with love and care

We had a wonderful three days over the Coronation weekend at this site. It’s an immaculate and off the track place, peaceful and inviting. The place has been planted with trees and flowers to add some extra privacy. The host, Phil, had been amazing too. Nothing was too much to ask, he was very helpful and knowledgeable from the start und also checked during our stay, if everything was ok. We are definitely coming back.

Lovely CL

This CL is immaculate and the services area is superb and to an actual club site standard. Hedged pitches with wonderful views all round. Warmly welcomed with plenty of local information and map. We couldn’t ask for more.

Perfect!

This is a fairly new site, but has been done beautifully. The facilities are great and a huge amount of care has gone into making the site look good. The owners are really friendly, and give lots of information about the area, along with an excellent map of the town you can take a photo of. The area is lovely….High and Low Force falls are lovely walks, and there is a lovely walk from town, around the fields, over the bridges and back into town. Bagraves Cafe is worth a visit……it wouldn’t look out of place next to Borgen and Burkes from Harry Potter! We had a lovely few days here, and I feel the site should be charging far more than £18 per night.

A nice very new site

We stayed at this site in April 2023. It is very conveniently situated for visiting Barnard Castle. The site is still being developed by the very helpful and welcoming owner. It has a lovely new service area and two brand new hard standing pitches. There is a further hard standing area and 2 grass pitches. There is some road noise but it's far from overwhelming.
