Fantastic Stay

We stayed on this wonderful site for five nights in May and absolutely loved it. Spacious, well kept pitches, friendly and helpful owners, and amazing sea views across to Orkney, (if you're lucky brilliant sunsets too). Great walks straight from site along the coast, and lots to do in the area. Among other things we enjoyed Duncansby Head and Stacks, Dunnet Head, the Heritage Centre at Wick, the Flagstone Trail at Castletown, and a lovely lunch at the Castle of Mey. Also great scones at "Scone with the Wind" honesty shop just a short walk up the road. We would definitely visit again.

Entertaining weather !

Entertaining weather characterised our visit in early June 24, with gusty winds and squally rain for much of our short 2-day visit. This did little to mar the spectacular vista from Dunnet head in the west and then across the Pentland Firth to Hoy, and the island of Stroma, though cloud obscured the views quite a bit. You really have a completely uncluttered view - what a privilege ! In terms of the CL itself, the layout is pretty much faultless, with hard standings and services to each pitch. The site is sloping so be prepared for that so you can get level. A motor mover will definitely help with pitching a trailer caravan. We were able to walk to Castle of Mey, took us around 25 mins. And John O’Groats is just a short drive. With more time we could have done more walking as the coastline is simply spectacular. Nothing to fault at this CL !

Lovely site

Stayed here on 2nd and 3rd May. Great location, warm welcome with decent pitches and sensible facilities. There was a long hose and also a 'waste hog' to borrow, should one need either. We carry our own, but I can see how useful they will be for many with smaller campers. The location is amazing. I suspect it could be 'entertaining' in very stormy weather, but when we were there all was calm and peaceful. A great base for visiting John O'Groats and the Castle of Mey, both of which we did. I heartily recommend this lovely site.

A Scottish Gem

We have just left Crofter’s Snug with heavy hearts after a 5 night stay - what a gem in every way. The booking process was very easy thanks to Karina’s admin skills, and we were kept up-date and fully informed about the booking, things to see/do and the facilities. On arrival we were greeted by Jo who made us feel like long lost friends. The help even extended to allowing a member of our family to send us an anniversary gift via their address. The facilities, the pitch and the site was very clean and tidy without being over-manicured. Little details like covers over the taps were very welcome. And if all that was not enough - the views were out of this world. I would like to say we will be back but you are bit too far away from South Cambs to pop up for a weekend. Thank you Jo & Karina.

Hogmanay Stay

A bit of a late decision Hogmanay stay for 5 nights, taking a punt on the weather being this side of acceptable! Booking on the website very straightforward and a very quick thankyou message came through from Karina for the booking. Lots of information both messaged and on the website, both about the site and about the area. As other reviews have said, the site is excellent. Aspects such as the water taps having covers to help prevent freezing, the recycling is very easy, the wi-fi was the best I've ever used on a site, all makes things that bit easier. Facilities all as described, well kept, clean and tidy. Remember your blocks, they will be needed, but with the hard standing no problem in using them. With the electric being on a meter I like paying for what's used, much fairer, especially in winter! The site is easy to find with good signposting. The views are great over to Orkney; we even got an aurora, albeit a minor one, and were messaged about it from Karina/Jo. Both were very friendly and helpful, and forgiving of my rubbish manoeuvring when parking to face into the wind, apologies again! Will definitely use the site again if and when we're up that way. Thankyou to both.

Wonderful

This site was fantastic. The pitches were very spacious with electricity, water and waste , and with amazing views of the sea and surrounding landscape. The hosts were so welcoming in fact Jo made us smile every time we saw her happily peddling up and down, the lane. The area it’s self had loads to offer from long sandy beaches, to historical sites. We also had some lovely walks directly of the site. Wick offered, a shopping outlet , with a b and m , Tesco’s , pets at home. The added bonus for anyone with dogs , was the enclosed dog field. Overall we stayed 7 days and I could have stayed longer.

Beautiful site.

Crofters snug is a well laid out site with stunning views. Fully serviced pitches and and a really great informative website giving ideas of things to do in the local area and places to eat. We did the day trip to Orkney from John o Groats and think it is a great way to sample what it has to offer in a day. The walk to Castle Mey and the castle itself were great. Jo and Karina were lovely hosts very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again. 😊 Janette and Ron Pell

Got to be our number one site in scotland

the view from the pitch is breath taking looking out to Orkney islands and with binoculars you can just see the top of the old man of hoy. we were welcomed to the pitch within minutes of arrival even helped setting up. we walked to the castle of mey gardens and to the cliffs overlooking the men of Mey and Swona (not sure of spelling) uninhibited island except for sheep!. a wonderful stay. we will be back. Our favourite CL

This CL is perfect in every way. It has amazing views, large gravel hardstandings, good website and great communication and information from Karina and Jo. The photographs on here and on the website really do do it justice. Lovely walks from the site. The Castle of Mey down the road is well worth a visit. We saw our first sea otter at the beach here. We have now stayed here with our caravan three times and will definitely return.
