A Classic CL

We stayed on this classic CL for 12 days in July 2014. It’s easy to find on a quiet wide country road. Easy access onto the site and a cheerful welcome from the owner Helen John and her family. Several electric hook up points are scattered around the acre field which enable you to pitch where, and how, you like. Facilities include fresh water tap and drain, a fenced sewage disposal area (another toilet in concrete!) and cleaning tap, bucket and loo brush. In a separate building there are two toilets, a decent sized shower room and a useful information table. The shower and toilets are old but very clean and insect free. Nice points include flower tubs and picnic tables around the site. The grass is mown short and the clippings collected. At one end of the field there is a rough meadow with a footpath cut into the grasses leading to a hidden bench. Good for dogs I guess. Best of all is the silence. Helen has thoughtfully duplicated a sheaf of timetables for the ‘hail to stop’ bus that passes the site entrance. The site is very convenient for beaches, pubs and restaurants. The Swan in Little Haven, The Griffin in Dale and the wonderfully eccentric Druidstone Hotel all have excellent food. But the star attraction has to be the Pembrokeshire coastal path. Day after day of delightful and exhilarating walks are all around you. During our stay Helen came to our van see if everything was OK. Upper Bushford is owned by people who really care that their clients have an enjoyable holiday and try to provide everything that is reasonable at £12 per night in the high season. The only thing we could not understand was why we were the only people on the site for a week – by rights it should have been full. Highly recommended.
