Lovely site. Lots to do.

Just returned from 5 night stay. Very friendly, helpful owner. Good spacing between caravans. Slight slope, which is easy to rectify. Good facilities, lovely pool. Quiet spot with easy access to Bristol/Bath etc. Rained most days but still had enjoyable week and will book again for next year.

CL site not as described

Just returned from a long weekend at Uplands Cottages and unfortunately the experience could have been better. On arrival there was no way of knowing which pitch to use or any check in procedure ( I did email a week before going to ask this but received no response). When I eventually found reception, a lady said she had nothing printed out so just pitch anywhere and the manager would come and see us. Pitches are quite sloping, and the grass had not been cut in a good while. It felt more like pitching in a field. Can’t comment on facilities as they were closed to anyone with their own (I knew this when I booked so no issue) What’s NOT mentioned on CMHC details is that Uplands have a camping field directly behind the CL. On Friday this was taken over by a group of families who partied away until gone midnight. They then decided to monopolise the swimming pool on Saturday, bringing alcohol and loud music making it feel unsafe for us to remain as we were with our grandchildren (aged 3 to 6). Despite a pack detailing COVID restrictions no-one from the site seemed to be ensuring these were adhered to. I tried to call, then emailed the owners to address my concerns, but neither were answered. In conclusion, whilst this site is in a beautiful location and close to Weston/Cheddar etc, the owners clearly don’t maintain the CL as well as the rest of the site, which is a shame.

Lovely peaceful site

A pleasant site with plenty of space. Surrounded by tall hedges. There is a heated open-air pool (a rare find!), tennis court, small games room with (slow) WiFi - all at no extra cost. Donkeys in a nearby field for the kids to look at and other walks nearby in the woods behind. Near to Strawberry Line cycle path with access to Winscombe village with pubs, shops and takeout food - 20 minute walk/5 minute bike ride Note that there is no grey waste disposal/drain point - was told to put it in the hedge but we don't think that is acceptable. Warning - don't approach via Shipham Lane from Star, it's narrow! Access is best from Sanford / Winscombe direction. It's pricey for a CL site (£22 per night) but if you use the pool, tennis court or games room then it's worth the extra.

Great site with lots of extras for a great price

Just had a wonderful 10 days at this site. So much room to spread out, extra field behind the site where kids can play, along with the heated pool, tennis court and games room (table tennis & pool (50p)) and all in for £22 a night. 1 mile to Thatchers cider factory with shop & cafe, or 1 mile to Winscombe village with take aways, pub, bakery and butchers. Easy access to Cheddar, beaches of Weston-super-mare and Brean amusement parks. Defiantly one of my favourite sites.

Campervan Visit June 2018

A beautiful and quiet spot with plenty of space for 5 units. Friendly and helpful owner who also looks after the surrounding rental cottages. Grass well maintained but slightly sloping so levellers needed. Tarmac access along most of site field. Facilities a few minutes walk away along with lovely heated swimming pool. One fresh water point & chemical disposal point at entrance to site, grey water disposal in hedge. Excellent access to footpaths over Sandford Hill and short walk or cycle along Shipham Lane & Ilex Lane to access Strawberry Line. Bus stop at end of Shipham Lane.

Gem

This site is lovely. Quiet with good walks very handy if you have a dog. Unable to use he swimming pool as he weather was not good enough to heat it. Just a few points. Toilet and shower to far from the site to use on a regular basis and there is only one, not a problem for us as we use our own facilities. Grass was cut but not picked up so grass was constantly being brought into the van. Just one more point fee are too high for a CL.
