OK, but not the best

The site is untidy. The owners dog has free access around the site so ended up clearing up it's poo each day (following standing in poo on day 1). Wi-fi is none existent, phone signal also poor. Couldn't wait to leave unfortunately.

Comment from the Club

The CL owner has been in touch as she is really concerned to learn that you did not enjoy your stay and thought the site untidy. For many years, and for however long it takes the wild flowers to set their seed, they have not mown around the site edges or under the oak trees. This year they initially thought they would go one step further and try no-mow May across the whole site. After two weeks they abandoned that idea as the grass was obviously going to get far too long and they ended up mowing twice that month rather than the usual 7-10 days. They are very upset to read that their dog which they inherited 6 years ago apparently acted out of character. They wish you had spoken to them as they could have resolved the issue. Beaver has always ranged freely across their property. The owner has spoken to all 12 visitors since your review was posted to date and no-one they are thankful to say reported any problem. That is not to say that a dog never gets caught short. If it happens on site they have advised they will be on to it like a rash like any good dog owner. They just need to know and they will get this cleared up immediately.

I suppose it depends what you expect from a secluded, rural CL. If you spend a significant part of your stay on-site then this economic place, with limited facilities, might not be for you and a well managed campsite or CL with more facilities might be more suitable. We are motorhomers with our own facilities needing only provisions such as water, brown waste and, if available, electricity. A CL is just a base at which to stay while exploring the area; if there is a dog-friendly pub or somewhere to eat within walking distance; a shop with basic provisions then so much the better. We travel with our two sociable, well-trained Border Collies who are country dogs and used to walking many miles off-lead. (We recognise that not everyone likes dogs and there are locations where they are required to be on-lead, or for the comfort of others), we look for places to stay where we can enjoy the freedom of rural walks. Trevassack is almost ideal as is this part of Cornwall in general. It meets many of our requirements and was a great place to stay (Sept. '23) - we will be returning soon (June '24, I hope!) to enjoy this beautiful area visit family in Lizard.

Please remember, if you are in any way dissatisfied with the site on which you are staying, the first line of approach is to speak to the owner/manager. This is far more considerate, polite ands constructive than just posting negative comments in reviews.
