We have stayed at Toynes house three times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Bruce is very welcoming and helpful and even puts your name up on blackboard ready for your arrival, which is nice touch.
The CL is described accurately on the web site so you know what to expect when you get there.
The busses are very convenient for getting to places especially if you have a motor home or camper van.
Bruce suggested going to Golant, which is only one and a half miles away and we had a lovely walk there and a good lunch at the local pub.
St. Austell is very convenient for shopping and not far.
The Eden project is also not far away as are The lost Gardens of Heligan and there is a lovely farm shop there too with dedicated parking for motor homes.
Altogether a very nice place to stay for a holiday.
Average
Toynes House CL is 2 miles outside Fowey and adjacent to the B 3296, one of two busy roads leading to the town centre. The site is spacious and enclosed by tall trees under which pitches are located, and consequently water continues to drip on the roof after rain. Some of the site is left wild. Walking into Fowey is not practicable as there is no roadside path, but there is a longer route via footpaths and minor lanes. An hourly bus service from Fowey to Mevagissey passes the site. Information posted on the club website about this CL is a tad misleading and the 5 ticks awarded by past users suggests that despite the £20 per night, some members are easily pleased.
Short stay July 2021. What a fantastic place to stay. Bruce was very welcoming and happy to share local knowledge of places to walk to.
It’s the little touches that make a
Stay more pleasurable. Welcome board for new arrivals. Followed up later in the day with helpful local knowledge giving directions for local places to eat at and places of interest to visit. If you want a small peaceful pretty site this is definitely a place to stay. Bruce definitely made this stay and we loved this small site. Hope to be back soon.
Excellent Site Beautiful location with lots of space
Even though we arrived late we received a warm welcome from Bruce - who throughout the whole stay was most helpful and friendly ...although not at all intrusive. The site is easily accessed from Fowey close to surrounding beaches and very well kept with recently modernised facilities. The Pitch space was generous and even with five Motorhomes was quite and peaceful. Dog friendly with a very good dog walking route on the site. Our first time as new Motorhomers and will definitely come back Gary and Lorraine
Peaceful and welcoming
Just an overnight stay en-route, but very pleasant, set behind tall trees away from the road. Bruce was extremely welcoming and helpful, and the bus stop into Fowey was only 200 mtrs away. Driver kindly dropped us back at the camp entrance as my elderly mother was with us.
Fabulous Base Camp
Well signposted from the staggered crossroads mentioned so easy to find and turn in.
Bruce was a star to come and help me pitch my awning and show me my allocated pitch.
Whole field completely level making setting up a breeze.
There is a short dog walk area suitable for morning constitutions the other end of the garden through an orchard. Could do with a trim back but weather this week hasn't been good for that job. Longer walks need to be started with a car journey.
Sheltered by trees/hedgerow all round but open in the middle with some long grass areas to encourage butterflies.
Sadly traffic noise from cars speeding away from the crossroads on the road to Fowey, so if you have the choice pitch the opposite side. But traffic was never continuous, even in commuting time.
Great base camp location for exploring this part of Cornwall.

Full of Memories, a welcome revisit
We found this lovely CL some 20 years ago, and have stayed a few times down the years. It is now in the careful hands of the next generation, who is making sure it retains it’s away from it all feel, but with aspects now so important to today’s tourers.
The CL is an acre of lawned and wildflower grassland, sheltered from winds by tall trees and some shrubs, retaining an open sunny aspect. It lies a mile or so from the centre of Fowey, on a relatively quiet road, with good access. Part of the field has now been given over to hardstandings, so there is a choice now for those who prefer or need hardstandings. We had no need to use levelling blocks with our small MH during our stay. Hook ups are spaced around the field, pitches are not marked out, but there is ample space for 5 vans even when full. There are two water points in the field, only a short distance from all pitches. A grey water disposal point and rinse hose, and a chemical toilet disposal point with rinse hose are situated on the road side of the field, again, close by all pitches. Both are brand new and easy to use. A small hut provides an information point with local guides, maps, walks and bus timetables. The bus into Fowey stops close by the entrance, and if asked drivers will stop at the gates! Bruce, the owner, has provided a small safe dog walk perfect for a quick first morning, and last night time walk for dogs around the big garden and orchard. Further walks are easily accessible direct from the site, with a bit of care needed on road, but this really is some of the best walking country in Cornwall! We recommend the OS map for the area.
Fowey is quite stunningly beautiful, full of history, with some great pubs and eateries. It’s easy to get out and about to other places of interest such as the Roseland, the North Coast, and it’s only an hours drive to get onto Dartmoor, or down to Lands End or the Lizard.
Telephone signal is good, we had no problems with Virgin mobile, closest petrol is a short half mile drive at Four Turnings Garage, although Tesco is cheaper towards St Austell. Supermarkets are Tesco and Asda, both in St Austell, small Coop in Lostwithiel.
At time of writing this review, no WiFi at moment, but cabling was in and it is to to provided in the near future.
A great location, friendly, helpful owner, this is a long established CL undergoing investment to provide more for visitors, and we shall be returning in the near future. A true gem of a CL.

A Great Stay
Motorhome 7.5 m with car & dog. Accessibility good and entrance is directly off from the road. We met Bruce the owner shortly after arrival who is very friendly and helpful. We stayed 3 nights in this tranquil CL which has excellent services such as EHU with attached water supply and a dog walking area that is considerably nicer than than some top holiday sites. There is also Grey / Chemical disposal within the field (not drive over). A very Well kept site with hard standing area if required. The site is within easy reach of Fowey and surrounds. A regular bus service (which we did not use - but I did talk to another camper familiar to the site / area who stated that it is a very good service) makes this an ideal spot away from the crowds and accessible to the main areas of interest if required. This is one site in which the owner has made considerable investment. I will be happy to return in the future. Highly recommended.

Peaceful Site
Lovely site with areas left for nature, lots of wild flowers, grasses and butterflies. Very nice dog walk on site leading to an orchard. Very good and organized recycling area and good chemical and grey waste disposl facilities. Owner Bruce, had an excellant local knowledge and was very friendly and welcoming. Lovely walks although the road had to be respected as it was narrow in places with bends and hills. Bus service was good with buses every hour on weekdays. Fowey harbour is a must for a visit, lots of eateries and amazing views, also ‘ Readymoney Beach’, a beautiful little cove is also worth a visit. Highly recommend this site.

What a beautiful spot
A very warm welcome from Bruce. He was a very helpful man and nothing was too much trouble for him. He is charming with a lovely personality.
We will definitely be going back here.
The site is very well placed if you want to catch the bus, 500 yards away, to visit Fowey, St Austell, Mevagissy, Newquay, Eden Project, Par and a lovely walk to Galant situated next to the River Fowey.
Lovely little village with couple of pubs/restaurants and very friendly people.
10/10 to Bruce
