Our ideal CL

This was the ideal CL for us. We look for peace and quiet, views and somewhere to walk or cycle. It has lovely views, good recycling and waste facilities, lots of space which is fairly flat and there are pubs in cycling or walking distance. We cycled along the canal towpath to wootten rivers which was a bit bumpy, but there is a lovely pub there called The Royal Oak, and it was amusing to watch boats navigate the lock. There is some noise from the trains during the day, but it is not intrusive. It is a private road that runs through the site, so there is very little traffic passing by. We would thoroughly recommend the site and will return at some point. Thanks to Caroline for providing our ideal CL!

Nice Wiltshire Site

Booking was very easy via email. We paid cash on arrival as only there for a weekend. The site has four grass pitches on the main part and one the other side which is hard standing. The field is not huge, but you certainly were not on top of each other. The road to the farm runs through the middle, and whilst we expected farm traffic, there were a lot of other vehicles travelling up and down the road, so the site was not quite as peaceful as we'd hoped. There is also a train line not far from the site, and and you do get a bit of noise from it plus the trains did blow their horns as the came along. Views from the site are very nice and all pitches get the benefit of it. The pitch we were on was level, with no need for additional levelling. We were able to put grey waste straight into the field. Chemical waste disposal fine, and plenty of water taps. Once you turn off the B3087 (Burbidge Rd) the road is quite narrow, but there were passing places. The turning into the farm is wide and easy to turn into. The canal is within a few minutes walk, it is about 6 miles to Pewsey and back. Plenty of other places to visit nearby. Recommend Crofton Beam Engine, even when not in steam its a really interesting place to visit. Caroline is lovely, happy to help if needed, but equally will leave you to it if not. We enjoyed our stay and will be back, if we can get booked in.

One of the best in 23 years of Motorhoming

We booked this site for our 1st break after Lockdown. It was a short break of 3 nights. On arrival our first impression of the site was wow, the views are truly amazing. The whole site is neat and tidy. Caroline the owner called late afternoon and gave us a most friendly welcome explaining where everything was and where we could go for walks. Which we did quite a lot, in the time we were there. We can only say that if you want a get away from it all site, then this is perfect. Thanks Caroline and we hope to see you in the not too distant future. Ray & Anne Stride

Great, site and location

What a wonderful CL this is ... A gem of a find for us. The views from the site are quite simply stunning. Add to that; ease of access to the Kennet and Avon canal, an abundance of nearby walks of varying lengths, Wiltshire cycling routes on the doorstep, plus good pubs and restaurant within walking distance and even more in cycling distance. There’s also easy access to two supermarkets and bakery in nearby Pewsey, so in my humble opinion, you couldn’t ask for much more if wildlife, beauty, peace, relaxation and tranquillity appeal to you. The site itself is predominately grass and fairly flat, even so, chocks are a good idea for some pitches. Drainage looks pretty good as the site is on top of a hill. There is some faint noise from a nearby railway line, but we couldn’t hear it inside our van, so sleeping was very good. Our host Caroline was extremely welcoming, yet happy to leave us to our own devices and the site fees very reasonable. All in all, it was a wonderful four nights, in a lovely area, so much so, that we are already planning a return trip.

A CL with character!

We stayed here at the end of July and it was perfect for us. Easy to find and a very friendly welcome. Lots of space and freedom to choose where you wanted to pitch. Lovely views and lots of dog walks in every direction. Added interest of the odd train passing through the valley, the occasional farm vehicle giving a cheery wave, horses grazing, and a visit from a ‘confusion’ of guinea fowl. Eggs, veg and wine on sale. We loved it. Thank you Caroline and family for a wonderful week.

Simple fabulous!

What an amazing site, like others we don’t want to leave a review and selfishly keep this one to ourselves. The hosts first class, the white wine first class, the site first class and the views outstanding. Accommodated at short notice to give my wife a key worker a break, instead of our planned then cancelled trip to France, we landed on our feet at this site! Stunning walking and cycling in the area and loads to see and do, Wiltshire and particularly the Vale of Pewsey has given us a holiday to remember! Thanks to Caroline and Muttley.

Brilliant CL, does not get better than this.

Well where do we start, we are almost loathed to write this as everyone will want to go but that would not be fair to Caroline and Anthony, who run this place to the highest standard possible. Nothing is too much trouble and we felt in very safe hands whilst staying here. Caroline is very interesting, sound, knowledgeable and professional and we observed her handle a tricky situation perfectly. We were very grateful and felt most comfortable on the site knowing Caroline has such high standards, whilst still maintaining a calm and relaxed atmosphere and ensuring privacy. Caroline takes time to talk to you if you wish but does not intrude. The views are stunning, the peace is wonderful, we have never slept so well in years. The pitches are not laid out but there is ample space and lots of hook ups and water points so no need trek over the whole field to fill up. Don't bring eggs, the farm eggs are always on sale and are top quality. There is also wine for sale should you wish. We plan to try it next time. It is a working farm but does not intrude and everyone coming and going gives a wave. You are made to feel most welcome. The walks around the canal are lovely and we highly recommend going to the locks in Devizes. Caroline supplies a folder for each van full of up to date information on the site and area you can use for your stay and return to the hut for the next caravan/motor-home. We could go one and on about this site and cannot wait to go back. The only issue we had was we did not want to leave and cannot wait to go back.

A Timeless and Beautiful Rural Setting

We and our Sproodle (Woof! Woof!) have just returned from spending ten days at Totteridge Farm. Despite being a working farm, our hosts, Caroline and Anthony, were warm, friendly and welcoming. Caroline kept in touch throughout our stay and we got the impression that nothing would be too much trouble. The fresh farm eggs were a lovely touch and we even learnt which mushrooms were safe to eat for breakfast! The purple file for personal use was a great idea. It contained tourist information and some lovely walks, including one or two easy circular routes for oldies like us. There was also safe dog walking around field edges owned by the farm and a five minute walk led to the beautiful canal ... more dog walking ... to Wooton Rivers and the lovely pub there, that seems to be open all day. Our van is only a two berth and we managed the last mile or so of narrow lanes easily. The views across the valley were lovely: all golden wheat and green hills with the sun setting in the west. There is a train, out of sight, down in the valley but, for us, it just added to the charm of the place. The area itself is gorgeous. Pewsey is delightful and has most things you would need (including a supplier of bottled gas). Wilton and Wilton Windmill is worth a visit but aim for Sunday as it's run by volunteers. The location was also great for travelling to Avebury, Stonehenge and Old Sarum. Thankyou for a wonderful stay. Totteridge Farm has joined our list of special CLs. Hopefully, we'll be back before too long.

Wonderful weekend

We are just back from a wonderful weekend on this beautiful site. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts Caroline and Anthony even though they were in the middle of a very busy Harvest. The directions to the site were very clear and the site itself was very well maintained overlooking stunning views. Caroline checked in on us regularly and there were always fresh eggs available. The village of Pewsey was just down the road where we had a lovely meal at the Waterfront Pub overlooking the Kennet and Avon Canal. Thanks again Caroline - we’ll definitely be back.

Rural England At It's Best.

We spent 2 nights here this week where the views from all 5 pitches were magnificent, each pitch had a picnic table, water & electric point, & the site is level & firm. Caroline was extremely helpful with plenty of information about the local area.I would recommend this Cl to anyone wanting a central point to explore this beautiful part of Wiltshire. Thanks Tony & Sylvia Williams
