Great views, lovely and quiet and lots to do locally

Just spent 3 nights at Topley Head Farm over the period between Christmas and New Year and cannot praise the site enough- especially considering its price of £10 pn.  The pitches are all hard standing (thank goodness seeing as we were there during a particularly wet spell!) and the views are lovely. Its right on the Monsal Trail, an off road cycle trail/footpath which we enjoyed cycling - 22 miles return in the end all the way to Bakewell and a mile or so beyond and back. If you are on bikes, the best way to access the trail is to turn right onto the a6 for about half a mile and join it at Wye Dale carpark. If you are walking, the the footpath down to the Monsal Trail is right at the end of the farm entrance- it is very steep down to the path. The Monsal Trail is a real gem of an off road cycle path - its gorgeous. Other attractions nearby are Bakewell, Buxton, Eyam NT Village and Eyam Hall, Chatsworth House all less than 30 mins away in the car. The site is very basic, but that is reflected in the price and personally thats what we like as we tend to use our on board facilities anyway. There is water, an elson point and rubbish bin- thats all we need. We got full digital TV signal on our status arial TV along with 3G and full phone signal on o2 network.  Really very surprised that we were the only ones on this gem of a CL. Will definitely return
