We stayed at this site at Easter, the weather wasn't great but we were on hard standing so no trouble getting on & off site, the views from the site are fantastic, Buxton is within a short distance, we had a great time watching the lambs in the field in front of us, they were very entertaining
A Gem in The White Peak
Third visit to the site, note it is £14 per night not £10 as shown on the site info. Views across the white peak and quiet. Access to Buxton is good and plenty of walks within easy driving distance. Only down side is the poor bus service in the area but perhaps it was just us. This is a good base for the Peak District in general, in particular the three trails, Monsal, Tissington and High Peak Trails. Use of an OS map will show plenty of circular walks. Will return to the site .
Great views, lovely and quiet and lots to do locally
Just spent 3 nights at Topley Head Farm over the period between Christmas and New Year and cannot praise the site enough- especially considering its price of £10 pn.
The pitches are all hard standing (thank goodness seeing as we were there during a particularly wet spell!) and the views are lovely. Its right on the Monsal Trail, an off road cycle trail/footpath which we enjoyed cycling - 22 miles return in the end all the way to Bakewell and a mile or so beyond and back. If you are on bikes, the best way to access the trail is to turn right onto the a6 for about half a mile and join it at Wye Dale carpark. If you are walking, the the footpath down to the Monsal Trail is right at the end of the farm entrance- it is very steep down to the path. The Monsal Trail is a real gem of an off road cycle path - its gorgeous. Other attractions nearby are Bakewell, Buxton, Eyam NT Village and Eyam Hall, Chatsworth House all less than 30 mins away in the car.
The site is very basic, but that is reflected in the price and personally thats what we like as we tend to use our on board facilities anyway. There is water, an elson point and rubbish bin- thats all we need. We got full digital TV signal on our status arial TV along with 3G and full phone signal on o2 network.
Really very surprised that we were the only ones on this gem of a CL. Will definitely return
Good location for Monsall Trail
We were looking for a base to do the Monsall Trail and some walking, and this site is perfect. Good views, and access is good.
Stunning panoramic White Peak views
If you require a CL with great access to the Monsal Trail, you can’t get much better than this.
The site has five hardstandings within the
field although there are two more just prior to the entrance gate. All pitches within the field are wide & deep and have electric hook ups. The fresh water is at the bottom end of the site but there is a narrow roadway for motorhomes to get close to it. The CDP, waste water disposal and refuse bins are over the boundary wall through a gate.
We stayed for a Monday to Friday trip at the end of April 2015 and were rewarded with fields full of ewe’s and gamboling lambs plus the rams having a well earned rest in the field overlooking the site. Walkers access to the Monsal Trail and Pennine Bridleway is from the car park directly opposite the site entrance [on the A6]. A ten minute downhill walk brings you to the trail and the Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire shop which also sells refreshments. If biking, then it is best to use the A6 towards Buxton for about half a mile and enter the area from the Wye Dale Car Park entrance. As others have commented, all the previously closed railway tunnels are now open and it is possible to cycle the 8.5 miles to Bakewell with stopping off points at Millers Dale, Monsal Head & Hassop.
For more ambitious walkers it is possible to follow the river downstream from the cycle shop – just cross the footbridge and turn right, keeping the river generally on your right. Due to the meandering nature of the river, the distance is probably twice that of using the trail! Also be aware that there are two sets of stepping stones before Millers Dale which were uncovered when we walked, but after heavy rains, may not be!
At £10 per night, this type of site is just what we expect for a no-frill’s CL in a super location with stunning panoramic views of typical White Peak limestone countryside.
Perfectly quiet
We were surprised that staying on a farm could be so peaceful! Although there are holiday cottages as well as the caravans we hardly saw a soul and there were no cars buzzing up and down. Usually the only sounds were the aircraft high up descending into Manchester Airport. The site is easy to get to and very central for many lovely places to visit. The only slight criticism would be that the grey waste disposal is a bit high when lifting a heavy container. We shall certainly be coming here again for the beautiful view and the silence.

excellent cl
We have just had a weekend here, the views are superb with easy access to some great walking. The site is quiet and peaceful ideal for a relaxing weekend.
Our first CL and it was a great experiance!
This was a little gem of a place which for our first time on a CL was everything we hoped for. The facilities are excellant with fresh water, waste disposal and electric hook up all for £10 per night. There are 5 hard standings which were perfect for our 7.5 mtr Motorhome and access is no problem. It is well away from any main road, is extremely quiet and the views are beautiful. The directions on the website are not great however if you find the A6 from Bakewell to Buxton on a map, find the A5270 junction, imagine turning left from the A5270 and onto the A6 and driving towards Buxton then the farm entrance is approx 500 yards ahead on your left. The Monsal trail which is great for walking or cycling is either a short walk over the A6 from the farm entrance and following the trail accross country or the not so great walk down the main road, approx 0.6 miles to the car park entrance which leads along the river bank to the trail start and cycle hire shop. The bus stop for buses into Buxton is also located at the bottom of the hill by the quarry entrance. If you have any mobility problems then unless you have use of a car this site may not suit as walking anywhere is very uphill and down dale however if you simply want peace and quiet this is certainly the place to visit.

Great location
We have recently joined the Caravan Club and this is the first CL site we have visited.
The location and facilities are very good. Hope all CL sites are as good as this. We will definitely return to Topley Head Farm again soon.
bonfire night
We stayed on this cl for a long weekend in november. We were able to watch the fireworks that were being let ooff in buxton. the cl was very quiet but had everything we needed, electric, fresh water, rubbish bins etc. there are plenty of places to visit. we caught the bus into buxton. Monsal trail is accessed by crossing over the road and a short walk downhill. the trail is very flat and has recently had a lot of renivation work done. All 6 tunnels are now open which means you can walk the full length of the trail without interruption. It's about 81/2 miles in total, a great walk with a lovely coffee shop at hassop station. all in all we had a great weekend and would stay at this cl with its great views and perfect location.
