Handy for Barmouth - by car or cycle

We stayed here over May half-term so were only able to stay 2 nights as it was full when we booked in April. Nice location above the main road and railway so not too much noise. Hardstandings are set in the lawned area so you have to drive over the grass to get to them - we are fairly heavy but we didn't have too many problem getting to our spot. Our pitch did seem to be very close to the caravan next door, or perhaps they had a huge awning?! There is a Camping and Caravanning club CS site in the next field and facilities seem to be shared. Friendly owners, though we didn't need to bother them during our stay. We were able to cycle into Barmouth (on the road for a mile and then down a track to the promenade) and over the railway bridge, then down the Mawddach trail towards Dollgellau. It's a 2 mile walk otherwise. Barmouth is a bit tired with tacky seaside shops,, but there are good food stores, post office, library and free WIFI in the tourist info office.

A Definite place to return

Stayed at this CL for 5 nights (last weekend). Very peaceful with hill views behind and sea views in front. The owners were very welcoming and extremely helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Ideal for accessing Snowdonia area, Bala lake, Nefyn etc.

Excellent base

This a lovely, peaceful, well run site just outside Barmouth (2miles). We like a site that is quiet & peaceful but close to ameneties if you need them. This ticks all the boxes. The views from all site were spectacular - hills behind and sea in front. Despite being just off the main road there was no traffic noise what so ever. The owners John and Grace were very friendly and helpful. We chose pitch 5 - although the views were not as good as the other four pitches, this pitch got the sun all day. We walked and cycled, and used the railway - all of this can be accessed from this site without having to use your car. We would definitely return - this site is a real gem.

enjoyed our stay

This is a quiet, well kept site, most of the pitches have a sea view The owner was friendly and helpful. There is an excellent area for walking both the hills and the beach. which is only a short walk away. The only negative is that the approach is not for the faint hearted, it being uphill with bends with stone walls and gateposts, but nothing that a competent driver should be able to cope with! That said I enjoyed our stay would return to the site if I returned to this area.

lovely

What a great CL. All the pitches have a great sea view and electric hook up. 4 out of the 5 pitches have their own water too. The site is well kept. We were met by the friendly owner who told us a bit about the surrounding area. We walked in to Barmouth. The site does slope so you will need your levelling blocks.

Well maintained CL

This is a lovely well maintained site, most of the pitches have a sea view and all have electric hook up and water. The owner was very friendly and helpful. There is lots to do and see from this site as Barmouth is only 2 Miles away. We had several good walks In the hills behind the site giving wonderful views of the coastline. The beach is an easy 10 minute walk away. I would return to the site and would highly recommend it to others.

Our Stay

We missed the entrance to this site as we had approached from the Harlech direction and then had to find somewhere to turn round- a lesson learned for next time! This site is lovely. We had a very warm welcome on arrival and our pitch was superb. We were side on to the sea and had a fabulous view out of four windows. The site is clean and well maintained. The only issue we had was that the weather was very windy during our stay and as the site is perched on the side of a hill, with the sea below it, we found that our awning almost blew away! We would return to this site happily and would be very happy to recommend it to others.
