Sheltered Site

Very nice little site on the outskirts of Wells, which is a great little seaside town. Site is fairly flat, and very sheltered - don't go if you want open and expansive views. Lots of things to do in local area, and we found it great for our motorhome, as everywhere is flat, and we were able to explore on our cycles. When we were there it was £14 per night which seemed very fair, but I notice it has just gone up to £18, which I think is a bit pricey, although it is in a lovely spot.

Great CL, a Gem

We first visited this CL some 17 years ago and have only just returned after travelling the length and breadth of Britain, over that period, now going round again! On arrival it looked different, well it would wouldn't it but the most striking difference was how the trees had grown, now making this CL a little oasis of tranquillity. Chris the owner has worked wonders over the years and turned what was originally a rubbish tip, (hence the name "THE MIDDEN" ask Chris all about it, you will be fascinated.) into a CL of note and repeat visits a must but not so long in between perhaps! Read other comments for a better over view but suffice to say, if you are thinking of visiting Wells and the surrounding area then this CL is perfect.

A quirky litte site, which is well worth a visit

A great little site which is in walking distance of Wells. I guess the clue is in the name being built on an old land fill site and being next to the recycling centre, however you wouldn't know it was there. Flat, well drained, and quiet and at £14 pn including the hookup, what more could you want?

Perfectly placed walking Distance to Wells. Clean Tidy and peaceful what more do you need.

Easy walking distance to Wells, there are some local walks you can do which is ideal if you are in Motorhome. there are a couple of level pitches if you can get on them perfect for Motorhomes.

Quiet site easy walking to Wells next the sea.

The owner was very helpful and friendly when making the booking. The site was easy to find and quiet with well draining and mainly level pitches. It took us about 20 minutes to walk from the site to the quay in Wells, mainly on pavements apart from the first couple of hundred of yards which are on a fairly quiet lane. The site is well screened by trees so no distant views as such.

A great CL site

As the previous review said....it is easy to miss but we Google mapped it out and knew it was just after the recycle drop (altho we heard no noise from it). In the week that we were there we only say Mr Beale twice but what a great Gent he is and very lay back. Very peaceful but we made the mistake of pitching not far from the road on the other side of the hedge (it was a quite period so we didn't notice). We got used to it (since we are townies). Had a great week in and around Wells....don't forget to visit Frenchy's Fish and Chip Shop....we did, dare I say, 4 times!! (expect to queue at peak times but its worth it)

Convenient for Wells

This was the first time we've used this CL and we certainly hope to return in the future. It's quite easy to miss from the road, so make sure you are clear about the exact location before arrival. The site is very spacious and surrounded by mature woodland, giving a peaceful feel. The owners were friendly and relaxed about arrival & departure times, as the site was not fully booked. If you fancy taking the narrow gauge train to Walsingham, this passes the site, and the train will stop for you on request. The best thing about this site, though, is its proximity to Wells... just a couple of minutes by car.

A really relaxing site

The site is very good for access to Wells and surrounding area. Although it is all grass it was firm and fairly flat. With only five guests in quite a large area we had plenty of privacy and space to relax. The owner was friendly and welcoming. If you don't need shower blocks, cafes etc this will be a lovely site to visit whilst in North Norfolk.

Unusual!

We recced this CL before arrival and were a tad disappointed at first sight, thinking maybe we'd not made the best choice.... However, once sited it does grow on you, although at £12 it's a tad expensive for a very basic CL. The entrance could be tricky for long outfits because it's at the point where the road narrows, but the field itself has a good wide entrance - in one sense too wide because with a little extra screening at the threshold outfits on site would be invisible from the road. This is probably what put us off at first as we thought there was a lack of privacy. The Wells-Walsingham light railway passes the site and will stop on request. Also the Coasthopper bus service from Fakenham to Wells passes the site but the nearest bus stop is a fair walk towards town. The site's name derives from the fact that up to 30 years ago it was the town rubbish tip, but the ground has been carefully graded and lawned so there is no hint of it's former role other than a few fun items of ephemera at the entrance!
