Lovely site and great host

The Manor House is a lovely site set in a working farm. The site is well drained and the lush grass was well cut and wasn't full of clippings. Judy was a great host who ensured we knew where to pitch before we arrived and made us feel very welcome. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and there was a useful 'info hut'. The site has easy walking access to Maiden Castle which was great for our springer. The site is located just south of Dorchester which makes it a great base to explore the fantastic county of Dorset.

A peaceful break

Having stayed on this CL previously we have high regards for the owners Judy and Charles. They are always friendly and willing to help with any enquiries. The site is excellent and a a real gem. We only live in Poole so it's ideal for us to have our short breaks here and will always come back as long as the site is operational. Hopefully see you soon Judy and Charles. Geoff and Jan Evans.

Lovely site

We really enjoyed our 4 nights at this site.. really clean well kept site. Judy was helpful both before and during our stay, there is an information hut of walks and things of local interest as well as toilets and a great shower! Which was kept very clean. Would definitely return.

great location, lovely place to stay

We drove to the site in torrents of rain, and when we arrived we were releived to find the ground was drying out and was firm , with short grass. We were met on arrival with a warm welcome from Mrs Norman who gave us a lot of information about the site and surrounding area. The toilet and shower facilities were very good and always kept clean. The site is very convenient to vist Dorchester and other towns in the area, and we found we could leave the car behind and get buses to where we wanted to go, bus stop a couple of hundred yards down the road, Of great interest was the iron age fort, Maiden Castle which virtually overlooks the site. We really enjoyed our 8 night stay , despite some not pleasant weather. We hope to return to The Manor House CL in the near future. Dorset has a lot to offer and this site is a tranquil and peaceful base to enjoy the county.

Go To Places

One of those 'Go To Places' that we tend to go back to time and time again. Just outside of Dorchester & Poundbury for shops, pubs etc, its an ideal spot for days out in Weymouth or slightly further afield, West Bay to the west and Poole to the east with plenty in between. A lovely place to come back to after a day out, smack in the middle of a farm with open fields and wildlife all around, so generally a lovely quiet and relaxed place to be. In fact, with the recent hot weather and the effect it had on our dog, we spent a couple of days doing nothing but chillaxing with a book and a beer. Lovely Place - Lovely people

Lovely site

A lovely well kept level site with nice toilet and shower facilities. Easy walking directly from the site. Good instructions from the owners prior to our arrival and a warm welcome on the day.

Perfect Spot

Calm and tranquil site. Although all 5 pitches were full, it was still quiet. The site is perfectly located for visits to many places in the area. Visited most places by campervan, but did manage a walk up to Maiden Castle on foot from the site. Was a bit of a challenge, but made it! The shower room and toilet are kept lovely and clean (inevitable working farm smells notwithstanding!). Very friendly and helpful owner who was easily contactable and responsive, but who was happy to leave you to it. A lovely site that I would thoroughly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to revisit.

This is what CL sites should be like

The size of the field, just perfect, with pitches just right, and a superb toilet and shower block, well labelled water etc and info hut. It is is an easy to reach village and all Dorset spreads around from this place … east west north and south, Cycling into Weymouth or Dorchester appears to be easy as the lanes to the west, The main road near by is not an issue, all was just excellent… we will be back
