wild life and sunsets

we have just spent 7 days at "the lodge" and it was spot on. the fishing lakes were immaculate, but we must admit we walked around more than we fished just looking at the birds and at dusk we watched the bats zooming out for their nightly meal. all in all a "must" return site-immaculate !

Still excellent a week later

Spent a second consecutive weekend at the Lodge CL which confirmed my first impression that this is an excellent site.  The CL is well located for all sorts of visiting opportunities, for example Duxford air museum is about an hours drive.  Have a look at the Suffolk wildlife trust website for local nature reserves.

One of the best.

We have discovered a hidden gem in the Lodge CL. A lovely CL set in great countryside. The pitches are level with their own hook-ups and the toilets are spotlessly clean. We were warmly welcomed by Mr + Mrs Holden, caravanners themselves, so they know what to provide to keep their clients happy. Wildlife abounds here, lots of different birds, the Cuckoo was very busy and last night a deer walked through the field just behind our van. There's fishing lakes here so it would be ideal for those who like to fish but even if you don't, the lakes are nice to walk around. The Lodge is a great site, you should try it but don't tell too many people as its a secret.

Brilliant!

Level pitches, each with their own water and power, and well mown grass. Toilets spotless. On our first evening we were given a warm welcome by Mr & Mrs Holden. Very peaceful with only the occasional angler coming and going.  Very pleasant to stroll around the fishing lakes in the evening. The surrounding countryside is lovely with plenty of nice places to walk. East Harling is a typical village of the area with a smattering of shops and Attleborough is not too far to drive for a bigger selection. If you like Whisky then the St George's Distillery is close by and well worth a visit. My only worry about leaving such a positive review is that others might discover this gem and it will be fully booked when I want to return!

Idyllic

What a great site, very peaceful with great countryside.  Male and female toilets but no showers.  Site is well maintained with level pitching.  It's a delight to wander around the fishing lakes with all their wildlife spotting opportunities.  Plenty of birds on site including Mistle thrushes, wagtails, kestrels, willow warblers, cetti warblers etc.  Plenty of POI's.  East Harling church is very attractive and worth a visit.  Will be returning for another stay this weekend.

Super CL

What a delightful CL. Water at each pitch and very clean toilets and emptying point. Walks directly from your caravan and nearby Thetford Forest gives miles of country walks.  Lovely friendly owners. We enjoyed watching the horses in the field beyond. We will stay longer next visit.

Excellent site

Excellent site, clean and tidy toilets male & female with hot and cold water. Electric and water to each pitch. Very spacious pitches plenty of room for car and awning. If you are an angler you will be in heaven as there are two fishing lakes so all you have to do is set up your van and go fishing. Nearest town is Attleborough about six miles away it has an excellent Indian restaurant Shapla Tandoori, Queens Square. Tel No. 01953//455331 you won't be disappointed excellent food and prices. The owners also sell free range chickens eggs. Lovely eggs they are as well. All in all a very nice site owned and run by Mr and Mrs Holden who are very helpful. This is a site well worth a visit.
