Lovely peaceful site in good location

We were fortunate to spend three nights at this CL last week when the weather was beautiful and unusually warm for March. We went because of the fishing lake, and my husband enjoyed a day fishing on the lake even though he didn't catch anything. The CL is in a good location and you can walk and cycle in Thetford Forest directly from the site. The village of East Harling is a 10 minute walk away and we enjoyed a great meal at the Nags Head pub, which had friendly staff and was dog friendly. We also had a super breakfast at the restaurant a at the English Whiskey distillery in Roundham, which we would thoroughly recommend. We liked this site very much and hope to return again.

Very nice

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this lovely site. There are walks from the site to the fishing lakes and into the forest. The site is quiet and well laid out. We may well be back!

Great location for a late autumn getaway....

We stayed here for a couple of nights in November, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Tracey and David were both very welcoming and helpful. The facilities were clean and well maintained. We brought our bikes and the area has lots of quite roads, miles of forest tracks and interesting villages to explore. Our firepit was also welcomed, and was well-used as we settled down to appreciate the starlings(?) and other wild life, in the evenings. A very peaceful site in the midst of some beautiful autumnal countryside. We'll probably be back!

A lovely break

We had a lovely few days here in our motorhome and will certainly be back. Tracey was lovely to deal with and the whole experience was positive from start to finish. We particularly liked the on site dog walk which was perfect for a nice little evening stroll and was populated by lots of interesting wildlife. The site is in a lovely area and is adjacent to a fishery which is run by the same owners and this was a real bonus as it made for an interesting and scenic alternative dog walk. The fishermen were pulling out large carp from the well stocked fishery and, needless to say, did not disturb us in the least. The area was a real wildlife haven and we had a Barn Owl right outside out motorhome every night. What a treat! In summary the best thing I can say is that every other person we met here had been coming back here for years. Definite top marks from us.

Geocaching Trip

Just had a nice stay at the Lodge CL in Norfolk. We booked a pitch so we could go out walking and on our bikes to look for some Geocaches little did we know that one cache was just outside the CL. Good hard standing but we did have to put the van on chocks to level up and did have trouble getting a signal for the sat dish but got a internet connection so I did see the football. Very friendly owners and a very quiet area so no problem riding the bikes on the local lanes. Some fantastic old churches around one just 800 meters from the site and yes it does have a Geocache that we found even if it was a tricky one to locate. Would use again if in the area.

A rural retreat

This site is great - running water in a CL! It's well tucked away in Norfolk. One thing to be aware of; the access roads are narrow with passing places. The owners are very friendly (also caravanners, so understand) and nothing seems to be too much for them. As an example, the entry into the field has been changed and the old entrance is now a pitch. When we arrived, there had been a week of rain, and as we came through the new entrance we gouged deep grooves with both car and van in the mud. I was mortified, but by the next day the entrance had been repaired and covered with stone chips so that not only was our damage gone but everyone else could come and go without causing further damage. The pitches themselves are neatly spaced along a fence with open fields on one side and the lakes on the other. They are actually hard standing and lovely and flat, so very easy to use. There are loos by the entrance but as we we always camp self-contained so I can't comment on them.

Very Pleasant Return

Returned to this very pleasant site after 3 years. Accompanied by grandson who was with us on our first visit, aged 4. He enjoyed the surroundings with horses in the adjoining paddocks, and the large fishing lake. The changes made since our earlier visit were most welcome, with serviced pitches and hard-standings. As always the hosts ensured all was in order. This site is tranquil and pleasantly situated in the countryside. Easy to reach local facilities with Thetford just 15 minutes away. As a base for exploring local facilities, quiet towns, and the vast Thetford forest, this site is ideally situated. Most certainly will return again with our other grandchildren.

Lovely stay

Our first visit to a CL site during July and we had a great stay on this site. We stayed for a week and had an enjoyable time. The site was clean and tidy and Tracey was very friendly and helpful to the extent we were provided with Chinese takeaway menus! They were very laid back about everything which was great. Good location for walks from the site and nice to walk around the fishing lakes. Was also lovely to have nothing but field views and adjacent fields full of horses! Good access to local facilities, local fish and chip / kebab shop only a few minutes away and Chinese takeaway 15 minutes away. Sadly, we didn’t use the local pubs due to the current circumstance. We had numerous walks in various parts of Thetford forest, our dog loved the dog agility at Thetford arboretum which was good fun! We will be returning in the future and would recommend to others.
