Great CL site

Can't add much to the reviews already listed. This site has only been open since April this year (2022), but wow... its amazing, Lorraine and Tony you've done a great job! We received a very warm and friendly welcome from both Lorraine and Tony. The enclosed paddock for dogs was certainly an added bonus, our dog loved it and soon made new four legged friends. The wooden bench in the paddock is a lovely touch. We will certainly return.

One of the best CL's

We have been battling with ourselves wether to leave a review, mainly because we wanted to keep this gem of a site secret so we can always get in!! We had the most detailed instructions on how to get there and the warmest welcome we have ever received. The pitches were lovely fully serviced ones and the ease to get to surrounding attractions was superb. There is a great pub within a short driving distance as is a great fish and chip shop but for us the greatest thing was having an enclosed dog paddock that even our escape artist dog could not get out of. This is one site that is going to be our little bolt hole. If we could give it more than 5 ticks we would.

10 out of 5*

I want to leave an amazing review for this absolute gem of a site.....BUT I also want to keep it secret!!! Seriously The Gables is everything we could possibly want and need in a site. Such friendly owners, such a lovely, clean and tranquil place to stay. It was too hot for our dogs to make full use of the brilliant dog run this weekend BUT we are back in October and simply can't wait. *****

Back again

We have been able to book a few breaks away, one a month so far, to stay here. We have stayed 4 times now and every time we come, we find different places to visit, with new things to see and do. The scenery is just stunning and the A52 makes this an easy site to get to. Tony and Lorraine have become friends over our visits and we love the atmosphere and warm welcome we receive, every visit. The new dog run, which is fully enclosed, is not just an asset but a welcomed feature in most reviews. Full-service pitches make staying here just like home. With water flowing both in and out, without carrying heavy waste bottles. We have visited this area frequently, but the location is so central to all the Derbyshire attractions, it makes it a really good spot to stop. I wish i could add photos so you can see the true beauty of this hidden gem.

A lovely peaceful site

Just back from 6 nights at the Gables CL a few miles outside Ashbourne in Derbyshire. A lovely quiet site in the Dales with lovely views of rolling countryside. The owners are very friendly and available to help with any requests or questions. Serviced pitches are definitely a plus point for us and a great dog run area which is fully enclosed is also a fantastic feature. Definitely one for the address book for future visits.

Lovely site

We stayed here for 7 nights recently and what a lovely site this is, we were met by Tony and Lorraine who are very welcoming and friendly. The pitches are all hard standing and level, all are service pitches with space for car caravan and awning on the grass, tv reception is good, 4g (vodaphone) is ok for Netflix. There is a fantastic dog run on site to let your four legged friend run around, this is a adult only site. We slept in most mornings because there is just no noise except the birds. I would highly recommend this site to anyone who wants peace and quiet. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Perfect pitch

We spent 4 nights on this site over the jubilee weekend.on”on arrival we were greeted by Tony and Lorraine we were the only ones there the first night so had pitch five hence perfect pitch The site is quiet and peaceful apart from the wonderful bird song The dog walking are was great and Tony put a bench in for us to sit on. There was easy access to Ashbourne and the surrounding area. A beautiful site kept pristine by a Tony and Lorraine who during our visit were wonderful hosts and who have set standards that make this the best CL’s we have stayed on this year and yes we will be going back.

Easter stay 2022

Had a 4 night stay on pitch 5 of this new CL Site over the Easter 2022 period. Hardstanding pitches immaculate with electric hook-up. Pitch 5's panaramic views amazing. We were apprehensive to go caravanning over such a busy period but this setting was so quiet and peaceful and we didnt see many people about. Perfect dog-walking field. We arrived late on the Thursday evening in the dark but Lorraine and Tony stayed up and welcomed us with torches. Really friendly hosts. Beautiful countryside and we will definitely be returning.

Great start to our trip

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the beginning of May, as a stopover on our way from Norfolk to north Wales. Lovely location, great welcome from the owners and overall a very well set up site. We found good walks locally and hope to return to explore the area more fully.

Already rebooked for next year!

We spent 9 nights at this little gem of a CL and found the owners welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The site is open and sunny, very peaceful and relaxing with a lot of space. We have a dog and the field provided for exercising our 4 legged friend is a good size and very secure. Lorraine (manager) recommended a few places to visit, one of which was Tissington for the ”Well Dressing” and we had a lovely day there in the pretty little village. We also visited Lea Gardens, Kedlestone Hall, Monsal Head, Carsington Water, Ilam and Dovedale all of which were beautiful. The most fascinating place we visited was Eyam (the plague village). I would highly recommend this lovely CL as well as all of the places we visited. Looking forward to going back next year!
