Hidden gem

We have just returned after 7days at this lovely site. The views are awesome and we loved every minute of our stay here. The owners extend a very warm welcome, and garry is a font of local knowledge. He is always willing to assist should he be needed. I find it difficult to understand the last reviewers point about site levels. I have caravanned for about 30 years and i have yet to find a site that doesnt require some levelling if one wants a level van. This is why most caravanners carry their boards and blocks for levelling. Go and enjoy this lovely site.

Quite nice but.......

We were here for a couple of nights early in September, and were lucky to have the place to ourselves. After some wet weather the grass pitches (which are all on a slope despite the site description) were unusable and there is only one hardstanding space- room for a van on the drive rather than a proper pitch-and that slopes even more. As no more visitors turned up until we were hitching up to leave, this was no great problem, but if the site had been busy I don't know what would have happened. The owners were away during our visit, but the lady who came out to meet us could not have been more helpful. The loo was not inspiring, a better fitting door would help. Having said all that, the views from site are truly wonderful, and there are many interesting places to visit within a short drive. Would we go again? Possibly, but only if it hadn't rained for a long time.

Comment from the Club

The CL owners have been in touch as they work hard to maintain the site and want to ensure that everyone has the best possible time when staying with them. As such they would like to address the concerns you have raised. The CL owner was called away on family business but didn’t want to ruin your holiday by cancelling and as such they organised a friend to be on hand in case you needed any assistance and we are delighted that you found her very helpful. For future reference, there is a designated area by the rose arch and there are two drives designed and signposted to gain access to the pitches and forecourt area. The toilet facility is there for members convenience and is always kept sparkling clean with a fresh towel changed regularly along with hand wash and an abundant supply of toilet roll. The door has unfortunately warped a little due to it not being closed after use to which the site has added a temporary sign asking people to please close the door as it does swing in the wind and gains more ingress with the rain. However, the fixtures both inside and out do give security when inside. The CL owners will look to see if the winter’s repairs and ongoing maintenance programme will incorporate a new hardwood door, and likewise the impending works will see a brand new hard standing area which will accommodate two units running along the other side of the David Austin rose arch area. The extra costing may well increase the daily charge to the visitors of the site but they hope that won’t happen as they love to have people staying and enjoying to the full their facilities and all that the wonderful area offers.

Fantastic CL!

We have recently returned from a wonderful stay at this fantastic CL. The site is beautifully maintained and has fabulous views. There are some wonderful walks from the site and in the surrounding area. The owners, Gary and Andrea, are lovely and are only too pleased to provide information on places to visit, local pubs etc. We had a great time and will be returning!

An escape from the hustle and bustle, a wonderful site, will definitely return

We have just returned from a week at this site and have to say it did not disappoint in anyway whatsoever. We had a lovely warm welcome from Andrea and Gary and Gary stayed on hand to help us as we struggled to get the caravan on its leveller. The site is extremely well kept, the views are to die for and the peace and quite is just what we needed, we slept so well. The surrounding area has so many places to visit and Gary is a wealth of knowledge of where to go and what to see. This will definitely be our go to place to escape the world, I just wished we lived closer so we could visit more often. Gary ensures you are OK throughout your stay but is not intrusive. Can find fault with the site in anyway.

Excellent site with very helpful owners

In many years of caravanning, this is one of the best CL's we have visited. The site is quiet, spacious and has beautiful long-distance views. The owners went out of their way to assist us when we broke down just as we arrived on site. Gary spent a long time sorting out our problem for which we were extremely grateful. If you're going to break down, make sure it is here!

A hidden gem

We stayed here july 2017. The warmth of our welcome was fantastic. The views are to die for. Gary is a font of local knowledge, and we found this to be extremely helpful during our time here. The single toilet on the site is spotlessly clean. The grass areas are lawned, and disposal areas very clean. During our stay we had an electrical fault develop in our caravan. When gary found out, he came to our van and over the course of an hour, he diagnosed the problem and sorted it out. Brillian man, thank you gary. We shall certainly come back here. Bryan and norma.

11 Night Stay

We were greeted by friendly & helpful site owners Gary & Andrea, not forgetting Doris & Gus. Gary made sure we were able to set up ok & once we were sited we were left to get organised. The local area is rich with places to visit & area's to see. We had not explored this part of the country before & was taken aback with beauty. Gary was always on hand to recommend places to visit & area's worth seeing, his knowledge of the area is second to none. We were blessed with the weather, the views from the site are to die for, we felt totally relaxed throughout our stay. We will return. Pete & Sue
