Fabulous site apart from access

This large one acre site has the pitches well spaced out with plenty of room all around, short grass, clean facility area and welcoming owner and manager. Everything a CL lover could want including free WiFi. We filled a fortnight with trips out and April/May time with the bluebells at Blickling and rhodendrons at Sheringham Park and Stody Lodge near Melton Constable was the perfect time to visit. Even the seals at Horsey Gap were worth the journey. From a traffic point of view the site was silent as hardly anyone drives past but there is obtrusive noise when the military are flying overhead. The only downside is that the site is a quarter of a mile down the narrowest road you will ever meet and there is only one place where a car could pull over into a field otherwise it is a reversing job back to the main road. I use the term main road loosely as even that is a country road. The site owner mitigates the chances of meeting another caravan by ensuring those leaving do so before allowing new comers to arrive but we did find the tow in and out stressful. Apart from that it is an absolute gem of a site.

Home From Home

We have been using this site since it opened and it never disappoints. It has been our base for "Last Night of the Proms "at Bllickling Hall, "The Jubilee", and "The Coronation", all celebrated with other regulars at the site and with more than a little input from our hosts Bob ,Gay and Stephie. We have just spent another lovely stay and it's our happy place the only downside being having to leave to come home. Thank you Bob, Stephie and Jim and we will never forget "The Duchess of Alby"

Beautiful well maintained site

We have just spent 5 nights here in Early April and it wasn’t anywhere near long enough to sample all the delights this area has to offer. But we can recommend a visit to Aylsham garden centre just off the A140. The vernon arms public house is very dog friendly and does good food, Felbrig Hall National trust is nearby too and we’ll worth a visit as is Alby Crafts and that place too is dog friendly, including the excellent cafe there. As for Swallows flight. What a lovely well kept site. The winner Bob is readily available as is Jim the unofficial site manager, who is a mine of information and very helpful. (Ask him about his sea going adventures in his restored sailing craft!!) This site is well worth a visit and we’ll positioned to visit all that North Norfolk has to offer. But don’t expect to see it all in one visit!!!

So peaceful and ideally located.

Spent 3 nights at this lovely peaceful site. Beautifully maintained, very welcoming and everything you need on site. Hidden gem of a beach (Trimingham beach) close by and Blickling Hall and Alby Crafts and Gardens are both well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

Return visit

We’ve visited this CL several times now. Bob is very friendly as is Jim who helps out. We had windy and wet weather interspersed with some dry spells. There is no hard standing and the ground was a little soft. We visited Sheringham Park for a good long walk. Beautiful in the Autumn colours. We walked down to the beach too. We plan a trip back in Spring to see all the Rhododendron in bloom. We also visited Felbrigg. They now have the bottom floor of the building open and also the cafe and the shop. Found the little “secret” beach too. Still lots to see and do left for another visit.

Tranquil seclusion

If you want a CL which is well maintained, peaceful and secure, then Swallows Flight will not disappoint. It is secluded, sheltered and well located for visiting the north Norfolk coast and the Broads. There are no stuffy rules about how to locate your caravan and the grass is cut after each departure. There is a resident warden and a security barrier for your peace of mind, but there was nothing to indicate security is a problem, in fact the opposite would be true. Signage from the main road is very helpful but it should be noted that entry lane to the CL (approx 400 yards) is very narrow and would present a problem if encountering a large vehicle coming in the opposite direction (in 9 days I only encountered 3 cars). The only negative comment I would make is with regard to dogs. The owners dog, a small friendly terrier, is allowed to roam free and enjoys visiting caravans, if given the chance, and we did experience some unfriendly encounters with the Warden’s dog, but after making a complaint it was kept on a long lead.

we will be back.....

arriving at site first impression was...wow, this looks beautiful. Indeed this site has all a good CL needs. Lovely setting, spacious pitches in a well tended field.....no, correct that, a lawn....and it had been mown in perfect circles. We were greeted and welcomed by Jim, the site manager, and his dogs. Pitching up was easy as ground was level and firm, …..stayed that way too even after an extreme downpour. This is a friendly and peaceful site within easy reach of coast and several small towns. Norwich was well worth the drive to the park and ride near the airport. The owner , Gay, came to chat (she had been away on holiday) and it was obvious she cared about having a site where people could relax. Highly recommend Swallows Flight......wanted to stay longer than our four days, so will return at some point.

LOVE AT FIRST SITE

We fell in love with this site as soon as we set up. The grass pitches were large and open and well maintained. The site is in a lovely country location, we were greeted by an eagle/buzzard which was actually sitting on the lane as we arrived. Access to local attractions is easy. However it was the owners, Bob and Gaye who made this such a special holiday, they are so friendly and welcoming and it was like meeting old friends. We cannot wait to go back.

Awesome

From start to finish we had an absolutely lovely 4 night stay, Gay and Bob are the loveliest people you could meet, when we pulled in there was a sign welcoming us by name and then on Easter Friday when we arrived back on site after a lovely day at the beach we found an Easter basket with homemade cakes from Gay in the awning. Can’t recommend this site high enough. Will definitely be going back. Thanks again Gay and Bob Steve & Becki
